The Bachelor of Arts (Photography) (Honours) is designed for students who have successfully completed a three-year degree in photography, and who wish to undertake a further year of study to focus exclusively on an individual project.

The degree will also appeal to commercial photographers, photographers with commissioned practices (such as advertising, editorial or fashion photographers), photojournalists, socially-engaged practitioners, artists, designers, and other creative industry professionals seeking a more advanced studio practice in photography.

You will gain a broad understanding of discourses and practices of public art by examining current definitions of public space, and learning to deal with the challenges that arise from such definitions.

In the Master of Artificial Intelligence, you’ll learn to design and implement systems and applications in high-tech facilities, such as our newly developed Artificial Intelligence Lab.

The Master of Artificial Intelligence offers two stream options. In the project stream, you complete an AI postgraduate project and choose two electives from both AI and IT. In the research stream, you complete a research methods module, write a minor thesis, and select two electives.

We have been rated above world standard for our research in the field of AI and Image Processing. This course is among the most specialised in the country, with few other degrees focused on AI theory and applications in today’s climate. The Master of Biotechnology focuses on the study of living systems to address challenges in the environment, health or food science.

The Master of Photography enables socially-engaged photographers to lead developments in the technological, cultural, environmental and political role of photography today.

Utilising a dynamic studio-based learning and independent project environment, this degree encourages you to experiment and take creative risks before mastering your own process and craft.

You will develop skills and knowledge through a combination of practice-led research and professional development opportunities. You will establish and define your photography practice to be industry ready for presentation, publication or for commercial markets. The capstone experience of this degree is a major photographic project that is publicly presented for critical review.

The Master of Photography is designed to challenge you to apply and analyse photographic theory, mediate the relationship between technology and image making, and foster new approaches to writing, practicing, and exhibiting photography.
