The Bachelor of Criminology degree offers students the opportunity to study crime and criminal justice in both a conceptual and an applied way that particularly stresses social and cultural definitions of criminality and the reactions to it.

The Bachelor of Laws program satisfies the academic degree requirements for admission to practice as an Australian lawyer. Areas of focus in the Bachelor of Criminology include criminal justice institutions and practices, the development of criminology as a discipline and its various strands, forms and patterns of victimisation, crime prevention strategies and debates, aspects of juvenile justice, the evolution of prisons and different forms of punishment, law enforcement and surveillance, violence, gender and crime, and cultural depictions of crime and contemporary debates in criminology. Festivals and Events Management

This major combines social science, business and public relation subjects to provide students with the knowledge and skills required to organise and manage festivals and events. Students will learn about the social and cultural significance of festivals and events, and the roles and responsibilities of a variety of stakeholders. The major also explores the important role festivals and events play in tourism and visitor economies. Students who choose to complete the Visitor Economy Professional Placement subject will complete a work placement with a festival/event organiser, providing a stepping-stone to employment.

This program is designed for high achieving law students in the Bachelor of Criminal and Community Justice/ Bachelor of Laws program who wish to undertake an extended level of study and research in Law.

The Bachelor of Criminal and Community Justice degree is designed for current employees within Corrective Services, as well as students who wish to pursue a career in corrections, probation or parole. The degree will draw upon disciplinary areas such as Criminal Justice, Criminology, Psychology, Social Work and Welfare in order to provide a theoretical framework for those who work with offenders and on issues of rehabilitation, through-care and resettlement.

As well as providing a theoretical framework, the program will provide those who complete the degree with the knowledge and skills to develop and evaluate practice with a view to enhancing working with offenders. The Bachelor of Criminal and Community Justice can be described as an ‘applied degree pathway’ insofar as the teaching within the program will link theory to practice.
