On this course, you will explore techniques which will help you become a creative and reflective designer, primed to start a rewarding career as a chartered landscape architect.

On this flexible, studio-based course, you will benefit from our multimedia studios equipped with drawing boards, computers and model-making facilities, specialist workshops.

As part of this course you’ll:

• Gain the skills to work with children and young people who are experiencing mental health related issues
• Develop a critical and in-depth understanding of mental health and its relationship to children, young people and families within a changing and fluid society
• Explore medical and psychological models of practice and look at child and adolescent mental health from the position of social intervention
• Learn to draw on key interventions such as social pedagogy, relationship-based practice, playwork and community work as methodologies
• Use the social model of mental health and children and family practice to contribute to and co-produce knowledge in a collaborative, practical and participatory learning environment

Develop the skills you will need to work in the expanding and diverse modern professional audio and music industries.

As part of your course you’ll:

• Explore the technologies and techniques used in the recording, production and reproduction of sound and music
• Fuel your creativity while expanding your theoretical knowledge
• Access industry-standard facilities, including our impressive recording studios, post-production rooms and portable recording and audio analysis devices

This course is accredited by JAMES (Joint Audio Media Education Support) which encourages the delivery of workshops and lectures from industry professionals. A placement option and your final year project will provide you with opportunities to work with industry partners.

Develop your own approach to the study and practice of graphic design through a combination of brief-led and self-initiated projects.

As part of your course you’ll:

• Explore a wide spectrum of disciplines including design for print, illustration, photography, typography, animation and moving image
• Discover your strengths and develop your own individual style
• Have the opportunity to show off your projects to the public and impress industry by exhibiting your work at the end of your final year

Our students have worked alongside practitioners and on live briefs from organisations such as Harvey Nichols, the BBC, Leeds Art Gallery and the NHS.

As part of your course you’ll:

• Learn from a team of experienced and professional theatre and performance makers to produce exciting work for stage, galleries and festivals
• Gain real-world professional experience through public showings and work-based learning placements
• Explore theories of theatre and performance from researchers at the top of their field
• Become confident with the processes of making, performing and analysing theatre and performance, which will help you find employment within the creative industries

You’ll be engaged in practical events in the city in theatres, galleries and more unusual sites. Our performing arts students and staff have also performed their work together at Latitude, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and Light Night here in Leeds.

• Experiment with painting, performance, installation, photography, drawing, printmaking, animation, digital processes and other media
• Taught by nationally and internationally recognised artists and practitioners, who will help you to develop your artistic identity
• Participate in seminars, collaborative on and off-site activities and live curatorial projects
• Exhibit your projects to the public and impress industry by exhibiting your work at the end of your final year
• Be encouraged to take a proactive approach and make your own opportunities, as you will after graduating

Critically explore divisive political issues such as the 2017 snap general election, Brexit and the Donald Trump US Presidency.

As part of your course, you’ll:

• Examine politics as a human activity with a local, national and global outlook
• Study the ideas, ideologies, policies and institutions that form the foundations of modern politics
• Understand complex policy issues and advocate solutions to problems
• Evaluate the nature and distribution of power systems, processes and institutions of governance
• Analyse different interpretations of political events and issues, synthesising relevant information, exercising critical judgement and constructing reasoned arguments
• Analyse pressing issues facing us today, such as climate change, human rights, migration and the crisis of capitalism
• Explore how the role of the state, international power relations, ethics, and political movements and ideologies such as Marxism have profound implications for the organisation of our society
• Undertake a volunteering placement giving you work experience in the field
• Blend critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills

Become an effective communications practitioner with the expertise and confidence to work in an international setting. You will learn how to work with clients to produce practical communications solutions in the private, public and voluntary sectors all over the world.

The course is delivered by four European universities: Leeds Beckett University, Hanze University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands, IULM in Italy and Vilnius University in Lithuania, which all specialise in professional communications and public relations.

You will choose whether to study your first or second semester at Leeds Beckett University, where you will benefit from being taught at one of the most established centres for education and research in the field of public relations in Europe. You will spend your remaining semesters at a partner university, specialising in areas of expertise specific to that university. You could also take an optional industry placement in your final semester.

As part of this course you’ll:

• Develop the scientific foundation required to undertake a PhD qualification in biomedical sciences and related areas
• Work solely on an extended research project from January to September
• Be supported by staff from our Centre for Biomedical Science Research as you develop your practical expertise to an advanced level
• Have a wide variety of research options to choose from within molecular biology, microbiology, pharmacology and biochemistry
• Gain transferable skills, including science communication and promoting yourself as a scientist, guided by staff who have featured in print, TV and on radio as biomedical science experts

Develop the marketing expertise to make strategic business decisions, manage digital campaigns and understand buyer behaviour.

As part of your course you’ll:

• Gain specific knowledge of marketing ethics, corporate social responsibility and of the ethical and cultural differences between national markets, maximising your employability both in the UK and overseas
• Learn how to understand the thought processes behind every consumer purchase
• Develop the acumen for business management so you can oversee finance, economics, accounting and people 

What would you do if a rival company launched a cheaper product to compete with yours, or the demand for your product shrank in one part of the world? This course will give you the chance to gain real-life business and marketing expertise. You'll test your marketing skills against simulated challenges in our business simulation suite and attend workshops and networking events.
