If you are curious about signing up for the GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test), you should know that it is one of the most well-known management tests, and can be taken at any time of the year. The number of people registering for the exam is growing each year, and there are many queries on how to register for the GMAT in India. The registration fee for the test is approximately US$275 (INR 22,835) and if needed, a rescheduling fee of US$55 (INR 4,567) is also applicable. Additionally, a cancellation fee of US$110 (INR 9,134) is imposed.
If you are wondering about the best way to sign up for a GMAT exam, here is a quick and straightforward guide. Below are the steps that must be taken:
1. Visit the official GMAT website.
2. Create an account.
3. Provide personal information ( like address and name.)
4. Provide work and academic details.
5. Verify and submit all information.
6. Schedule the Exam.
7. Choose the preferred test center.
8. Choose a preferred time and date slot.
9. Pay the registration fees via credit/debit card.
10. The GMAT registration will be finalized after the fee has been paid.
It is important to remember that you cannot retake the exam until 16 days have passed since your initial attempt. Also, it is necessary to book your spot at least one month ahead of time. During the peak season from November, it is suggested to book your slot three to four months prior. You have the option of registering over the phone by calling GMAT Customer Service, which is applicable to your area.
There is an additional fee of US$10 (roughly INR 831) for scheduling the exam by this method. You can also pay for the GMAT exam when booking by writing a cheque.
The registration fee for the GMAT exam in India is approximately Rs. 22,835 or US $275 when taking the test at a test center. For the online GMAT exam, the fee is US $300 or approximately Rs. 24,954. Candidates who want to reschedule or cancel their GMAT exam must pay a fee for this service. If a candidate wants to reschedule the exam for a different day, a minimum fee of no less than US $55 will be required. If the exam is canceled, a maximum cancellation fee of US $110 will be charged.
The GMAT exam is held multiple times a year and has no set test dates. Candidates should register for the exam at least 3 months in advance. They can take the GMAT once every 16 calendar days, up to five times in consecutive months, and a maximum of eight times in their lifetime.
Over time, the number of people applying for the GMAT has grown. Thus, it is wise to sign up for the GMAT during your preparation for the exam and book the slot at least a month in advance. This is especially important during the high season, which starts in November, as slots should be reserved three to four months before the intended date of the examination.
If you decide to cancel or reschedule your GMAT test you need to pay the fee. Also, if you choose to reschedule via telephone, in which case there will be a $10 surcharge in addition to the rescheduling fee.
If students decide to reschedule the date of their GMAT exam in 2024 after completing the registration process, they will need to make a payment. If the rescheduling is done more than 60 days before the exam date, there will be a fee of $55 for the GMAT test center and $60 for the online GMAT exam at home. The fees for rescheduling between 15 and 60 days before the appointment will be $110 for the test center GMAT and $120 for the online GMAT at home. If the exam is rescheduled within 1 to 14 days of the original date, the fees will be $165 for the test center GMAT and $180 for the online GMAT exam at home.

If students choose to withdraw from the GMAT exam after registering for it, they will be eligible for a refund based on the date of cancellation. If you decide to cancel your GMAT test more than 60 days before the appointment, you will incur a fee of $165, with $110 refunded. If your cancellation takes place between 15-60 days before the exam, you will be charged $195 with $80 reimbursed.
If you cancel within 14 days or less before the appointment, you will pay $220, but will be refunded $55. It is impossible to make any alterations to the appointment within the last 24 hours before the exam. The only exception to this is if you choose to reschedule via telephone, in which case there will be a $10 surcharge in addition to the rescheduling fee.
