The Graduate Record Exam (GRE) is a necessary and popular entryway exam that learners must pass in order to be accepted into a university program at the undergraduate or postgraduate level, particularly in English-speaking countries. This exam is administered by the Educational Testing Services (ETS), which is headquartered in New Jersey. The exam includes verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, and analytical writing, and lasts for 3 hours and 45 minutes.

It is acknowledged by over 1500 universities around the world. Also, those wanting to pursue a postgraduate degree can take the GRE. It can be completed either virtually or in-person. GRE Test Scores

The ultimate score achieved on the GRE is influenced by the quality of the attempt. The way GRE scores are calculated for the general test and the subject test differ from one another. Let us explore the details of GRE scores.

GRE Score Calculation for the Quant and Verbal Section

The GRE exam is evaluated based on how a person does on the verbal and quantitative components. Scores are determined by the number of correct answers to the questions posed. Two major factors that are taken into consideration while calculating the GRE score are the measures of each verbal and quantitative section.

Computer-based tests are adaptive and can adjust the level of difficulty based on the performance of the test-taker in the first measure which has easier questions, while the second measure has more complex questions. It is important to note that your performance on the first measure determines the difficulty level of the second measure.

GRE Score Calculation for Analytical Writing

The GRE in September is easier to tackle than the exam in August. ETS does not disclose an obvious calculation of points, but they suggest that answering all questions correctly may result in a high score. Let us explore the method to calculate the analytical writing section of the GRE-

  • A trained evaluator reads the essay and grades it on a 0-6 scale
  • The ETS software e-rater evaluates the essay and gives a score based on different elements
  • If the e-rater and the human reader's scores are in agreement, the final score is determined by those two ratings
  • If there is a considerable discrepancy or any uncertainty, a second human reader is allocated to review the essay.

GRE Subject Test Score Calculation

The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) subject test contains six subjects from which test-takers can select their preferred one. The score is determined using an equating method. For the biology section, the sub-score is derived from the accurate responses to each content. On the other hand, the subscore in the psychology and physics sections is determined by the right answers for each content and the entire sheet.

How to get Exam Results?

After taking the GRE exam, the results will show up in the ETS account within a two-week period. Individuals will be notified when the outcome is published. The GRE exam in India score report contains the following information: date of birth, contact details, gender, intended graduate major, GRE test score, rank, fellowship score, and total scores from the past five years.
