If you are planning to take the TOEFL exam, you must complete your registration at least 2 to 3 months before the university's application deadline so that you get enough time to ensure that your scores are sent to the universities of your choice.

To register for TOEFL, you must visit the official ETS TOEFL website and either create a new account or log in to an existing one. You must then proceed with the registration process by selecting your desired exam date and test center location. It is essential to choose the nearest test center for convenience carefully.

You must pay a registration fee of ₹16,900 INR during the registration process. This fee covers all administrative costs associated with taking the TOEFL exam. Once registered, you can start preparing for the exam using study materials and resources provided by ETS.

Completing the TOEFL registration well in advance can avoid any last-minute stress and ensure everything is in order before your university applications are due. It is crucial for candidates aspiring towards higher education opportunities abroad as many universities require TOEFL scores as part of their admission criteria.

TOEFL Exam Registration Fee

In order to register for the TOEFL exam, individuals must make their booking at least seven days prior to the test date. This is considered regular registration. However, if candidates book their exam only two days before the test, they fall under late registration and will be required to pay an additional fee of US$40. If test takers need to reschedule their TOEFL exam, they must inform the relevant authorities at least four days in advance. Rescheduling also incurs an extra fee of US$60.

At times, candidates may require special services offered by ETS. The charges for these services can be found in the table below, which provides details on special handling requests and associated costs.

TOEFL Rescheduling Fees US $60
TOEFL Late Registration Fee US $40

  • To meet the requirements, it is vital to submit an authentic document. Photocopies will not be considered valid, and electronic devices, including mobile phones, cannot be used to present the documents.

  • Expired documents with expiration dates that have already passed will not be considered valid and will be rejected.
  • Provide the full name of the prospective examinee, which must precisely correspond to the name on the identification document utilized for registration, excluding any accents or diacritical marks.
  • Add a recent and recognizable photo.
  • Provide an ID with your signature, ensuring that the name on the ID matches the name you sign.

ETS has introduced the TOEFL Home Version to enhance accessibility for test-takers. The test retains all its features with no changes to the registration fee of $195. Specifically, TOEFL registration for a specific test date closes seven days before the actual test date.
