What is an M-1 student visa to the USA?

The M-1 visa is a non-immigrant visa that allows foreign students to stay in the United States to pursue vocational or non-academic studies.

The M-1 visa is issued to individuals who wish to enroll in a vocational or technical school, or other non-academic programs which are not degree programs.

To obtain an M-1 visa, the applicant must first be accepted by a school that is authorized by the U.S. government to accept foreign students.

The applicant must also demonstrate that they have sufficient financial resources to cover their tuition and living expenses while in the United States, and that they intend to return to their home country upon completion of their studies.

M-1 visa holders are permitted to remain in the United States for the duration of their program of study, and may be eligible for a period of practical training upon completion of their program.

However, they may not be allowed to change their status to H-1B or other work visas or engage in any unauthorized employment in the United States.
