The latest Aviation Technology Centre at Hamilton International Airport (YHM), an initiative by Mohawk, accommodates classrooms, laboratories, and hangar spaces for Mohawk's Aviation Technician courses: Aviation Technician - Aircraft Construction (289) Aviation Technician - Aircraft Upkeep (269) Aviation Technician - Avionics Upkeep (299). The tuition fee is around CAD 16,000- CAD 21,000.
About Mohawk College Centre for Aviation Technology at Hamilton International Airport (YHM)
Mohawk College was founded in 1966 as part of a network for colleges that were making higher education more accessible to the average person. Mohawk was established in 1965 and the school has expanded over time with many new academic programs being added. Today it has four campuses that offer industry-linked, high-quality information to students all across the globe. The Hamilton Mountain Campus, the Stoney Creek Campus and the Mohawk-McMaster Institute for Applied Health Sciences are all located within an hour’s drive from downtown Toronto.
College offers more than 130 full-time programs, apprenticeship programs and around a thousand continuing education courses. Mohawk is the largest trainer of apprentices in Ontario and it ranks high in providing exceptional health science and engineering technology programs.
In 2021, Mohawk opened a centre for aviation technology at the Hamilton International Airport. The centre consists of a 75,000 square foot classroom, hanger space and laboratory space. For college’s aviation technician programs: aviation technician - aircraft structures, aviation technician - aircraft maintenance, aviation technician - avionics maintenance.

Opened a world of opportunities for me
Mohawk college aviation was one of the best experiences in my life that opened up opportunities for me that I could have never expected. I had previously tried applying for MTC's, but was not successful. After completing my high school diploma, I decided to apply to Mohawk's aviation program. I had never experienced aviation before. It was so new to me, but I soon learned that it is not only the pilot's but the mechanics' responsibility to maintain the safety of the aircraft. I learned more about myself while at Mohawk, more than I could have ever expected. I had the best instructors, who were more than willing to answer any questions that I had. They never tried to make me feel like I was taking up their time. They were encouraging and really made me want to pursue this career. There were always practical exams, everything from drawing the EICAS, to troubleshooting software. The curriculum was not boring at all. Even though I was on my feet for 6-7 hours a day, I never thought it was too much to handle.

Well Developed Infrastructure
The infrastructure of the college is exceptionally well-developed. Faculty members are highly qualified and experienced, and they place a strong focus on the practical aspects of learning. All classrooms and laboratories have projectors and other essential equipment. Despite the absence of a gym and cafeteria, there is a surprisingly large and well-organized library. The infrastructure is fantastic, but it's just a sliver away from being outstanding. Many events are organized to provide respite for students, such as a festival with many contests in the arts (dancing, singing, cuisine, athletics, etc.). Teachers at this school are also incredibly supportive of the issues faced by the students.

Mohawk College has an amazing atmosphere and wonderful campus that's great for students who are looking for a smaller classroom to have greater engagement with teachers. The quality of the classroom experience and professors is very good. From planning out career choices to preparing for employment and internship opportunities, the college provides a variety of support to help students succeed. The campus life is engaging with the supporting faculty and many co-curricular activities taking place. The secure environment prevents any sorts of irrelevant activities on campus. The canteen facilities provide some amazing coffee and delicious meal. The campus housing is pretty good actually. The rooms are spacious and has all the facilities.

The program was a gateway to the world of aviation. The instruction was relevant to industry standards and the courses were designed by experts. The instructions were good. Technical training was given practically most of the time as was required by the course. They had modern and traditional the equipment to learn and safety measures in place. I am grateful I got to gain knowledge through my program and got placed. Financial help provided at the academy made it easier for me.
