Mohawk College of Applied Arts and Technology is a public higher education institution in Hamilton, Ontario, that was founded in 1966. The Ministry of Training, Colleges, and Universities has fully accredited and sponsored it, and it is a member of the Association of Community Colleges of Canada (ACCC).

The college conducts study programs at four campus locations across Hamilton, including Stoney Creek Campus, Fennell Campus (Hamilton Mountain), the Institute for Applied Health Sciences, and City School. The Marshall School of Skilled Trades & Apprenticeship is located on Mohawk's Stoney Creek Campus for Skilled Trades.

The campus offers roughly 36 distinct courses. Among these are programs like Auto Body & Collision Damage Repair, Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Techniques, Welding, and Electrical Construction & Maintenance offered at Mohawk College's Stoney Creek branch. The campus Athletic and Recreation Centre has a multi-functional studio, fitness facility, indoor track, and three gymnasiums. It also offers outdoor basketball and beach volleyball facilities, as well as conference rooms and socializing places.

What you'll learn

Explore opportunities in the service and maintenance of gas, propane and oil-fired technology.

Program Highlights

Accredited by the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA).
Complete your training in one year.
Upon successful completion of each semester, you are eligible to write the Gas and Oil Burner Technician Provincial Fuel Certifications. You may write the examinations without acquiring additional workplace experience.

What you'll learn

Fundamentals of home heating appliances that use fuel oil or natural gas.
Experience the challenges in the service and maintenance of gas, propane, oil fired burners, furnaces, boilers and hot water heaters.
Understand fuel delivery systems, set up and adjust combustion efficiencies, size ventilation systems and combustion air requirements.
Enjoy a practical lab to experience troubleshooting, combustion, electrical, fabricating piping systems and other related aspects.
The first semester prepares participants for testing and certification by the Technical Standards and Safety Authority as an Oil Burner Technician 3 (OBT 3) and a Gas Technician 3 (G3); providing eligibility on successful completion to write the Oil Burner Technician 2 (OBT 2) and Gas Technician 2 (G2) examination in the later part of the second semester.
Optional training includes fluorocarbon refrigerant, Ozone Layer Protection Awareness Certification, Gastite and IPEX certification training.

Admission to Mohawk College Stoney Creek Campus is dependent on meeting certain criteria, which vary depending on the program to which a student applies.

Student should be at least 18 years or more.
Student should be proficient in English and must have taken IELTS, TOEFL, or other equivalent exams

I was really impressed by the quality of the courses, the level of support I received from staff and the overall experience of attending Mohawk. I met some great people and had a lot of fun. The classes were great and the teachers were very helpful. Even though I came from a different country, they made me feel really welcome. They have a lot of clubs and a great placement program that is really helpful. I recommend Mohawk to anyone looking for formal education.

Academically, the college is outstanding, and the faculty members are well qualified and have extensive industry experience. The college campus is alive and well, as well as varied. They have a thorough and up-to-date curriculum. The auditorium and canteen are also present. Even the tiniest of events may be held in a tiny theatre. It's an excellent location to build a library of information. The modern laboratories and all the tools given by the library's electronic services allow us to learn a great deal. Aside from classroom space, the whole infrastructure is excellent. The courses are perfectly curated keeping in mind the need of the hour.

I strongly advise students to attend college and to study hard in class in order to understand as much as possible about the numerous academic options accessible. It's been an incredible journey. Professors and staff have been very nice and welcoming. The lecturers are great; they have been quite helpful to me in a variety of ways. At the college, students can feel safe. It's a college with friendly people, a secure environment, and plenty of resources. There are a variety of events in which you can engage to gain more campus life experience.The college focus on students mental health and how to support them in every way possible, little support from teachers.
