Northern Lights College is a post-secondary academic institution located in Northern British Columbia and established in 1975. Northern Lights College is a member of British Columbia Colleges and a group of 11 colleges located throughout the province of British Columbia. With a catchment area of 324,000 square kilometres, with campus locations in Chetwynd, Dawson Creek, Fort Nelson, Fort St. John and Tumbler Ridge with access centers in Atlin, Dease Lake and Hudson’s Hope.
Northern Lights College has a unique regional advantage and a l-collaboration with industry, employers, communities are designed to provide students the opportunity to obtain the classroom education, and supplement to make the successful transition from student to employees. This collaborative approach allows NLC to produces successful graduates with great skills and a bright future.
The college is a Centre of Excellence for British Columbia in three key areas of training: Oil and Gas, Clean Energy Technology, and Aerospace. NLC offers Upgrading, University Transfers and Online Courses. The institution has videoconference facilities available at all campuses. Programs at NLC are designed to provide students the opportunity to obtain the necessary classroom education, and supplement that with appropriate practicum or hands-on opportunities to make the successful transition from student to employee.
Scholarship Announced for First 6 Associate of Science Degree Students
For the first time scholarship has been announced for Associate of Science Degree Students. First 6 students who will get LOA of Jan 2021 after payment of Tuition fee for Associate of Science Degree Program will get a credit of $500 in their second semester fees.
Northern Lights College provides its students to win for themselves a number scholarships, awards and bursaries in order to work on their finances as well as win accolades for their outstanding performance. The Northern Lights College Foundation is responsible for managing and giving away these scholarships and awards. Mentioned below are certain major scholarships, bursaries and awards for the students:
Financial assistance, Access Services, Aboriginal Services Advisor, library, cafeteria, daycare, computer/Internet access, bookstore, and access to public transit are all available on campus. The Atrium, which comprises trees, plants, and a pool with exotic fish, is a special aspect of the campus.
International students at Northern Lights College can participate in a variety of outdoor activities, such as camping, horseback riding, cricket, and other intercultural activities. For individuals interested in learning this competitive sport, the college also has a recognized rodeo team.
International students at Northern Lights College can now apply to many new trades programs, including wind turbine technician, culinary arts, and cosmetology. In addition to being practical and hands-on, these programs are specific to the needs of the local labor market, making them ideal for students looking for a career in Canada.
Students can choose between a standard apartment and a townhouse with all the amenities. Fanshawe College's Housing Service is available to students who want to live off-campus. The housing service is a professional resource that helps students, tenants, and even residents who are having conflicts.
There are two wings of student accommodation, each having a capacity of 190 students and assisted living units. The living quarters are arranged around a central block that includes a gaming room and separate study areas.

University Arts and Science - Certificate in Criminology
The University Arts and Sciences program at Northern Lights College serves individuals and communities by providing university-level learning opportunities that reflect the intellectual and creative modes of inquiry practiced in the arts and sciences. A wide variety of first- and second-year courses enable learners to pursue numerous credential and career options, and to engage in personal enrichment.
A Criminology Certificate is awarded to students who complete ten of the designated courses, the equivalent of one year of planned first and second-year courses, at Northern Lights College. The certificate is intended to prepare students for entry-level employment positions as well as continued studies in professional programs, including Corrections, Criminology, Criminal Justice, Forensic Studies, and Law Enforcement at university or university-college transferring institutions.

The Pre-Education Certificate comprises the first year of an Associate of Arts Degree designed for prospective teachers and is a first step toward enrolment in the Alaska Highway Consortium on Teacher Education (AHCOTE), Northern Lights College's teacher training program.
A Pre-Education Certificate is awarded to students who complete one year of planned coursework at Northern Lights College. Credits earned may also be applied to an undergraduate degree with other post secondary institutions.

Associate of Arts Degree in Alaska Highway Consortium on Teacher Education (AHCOTE)
The Associate of Arts Degree – AHCOTE (AAA) is awarded to students who complete two years of planned coursework at Northern Lights College. The AAA prepares students for entry into the Alaska Highway Consortium on Teacher Education (AHCOTE), the teacher-training program offered at NLC. Credits may also be applied toward a degree.
The AAA is offered as part of the University Arts and Sciences program, which provides university-level learning opportunities that reflect the intellectual and creative modes of inquiry practiced in the Arts and Sciences.

University Arts and Sciences - Associate of Arts Degree
The University Arts and Sciences program serves individuals and communities by providing university-level learning opportunities that reflect the intellectual and creative modes of inquiry practiced in the Arts and Sciences. A wide variety of first- and second-year courses enable learners to pursue numerous credential and career options, and to engage in personal enrichment.
The Associate of Arts Degree enables students to focus on disciplines in the humanities and/or social sciences. This provincially recognized credential is designed to provide a well-rounded educational experience that prepares students for work, citizenship, and further study.
For students intending to pursue further studies, the Associate of Arts Degree comprises the first two years (60 credits) of a four-year degree program (120 credits). All 60 credits comprising the Associate Degree receive full block-transfer at universities throughout British Columbia. Accordingly, the Associate of Arts Degree enables students to complete half of a degree program while remaining in their home community.
Students transferring to universities may still be required to meet specific first- and second-year requirements for certain degree programs, so advance planning is recommended. Where viable, Associate Degree students are encouraged to select courses that also satisfy Flexible Pre-Majors.
