About Auckland University of Technology North Campus

AUT is the second-largest university in Aotearoa New Zealand. We have been a university since 2000, but a place of learning for 120 years and operate in accordance with the Education Act (1989). AUT is a contemporary New Zealand university, led by a strategic team and governed by a council. The Vice-Chancellor is the head of the University and is supported by the Strategic Leadership Team. The AUT Council is the governing body of the University and is made up of lay members, academic and professional staff, at least one student, and members appointed by the government.

Living in student accommodation is a comfortable and convenient option whether you're a first-year or postgraduate student, new to Auckland, or living away from home for the first time. AUT’s student accommodation is modern and secure, offering a social community just a few minutes' walk away from our City or North Campus.

Akoranga Student Village (North Campus accommodation)
Akoranga Student Village offers shared living in townhouse-style apartments just 5-minutes' walk from AUT's North Campus, and close to public transport links and shops. There are 40 apartments in the village setting, offering a convenient lifestyle where you can feel safe and supported while enjoying the social activities and events organised through our Residential Life programme.

Living at Akoranga Student Village (ASV) is about more than just a room – you become part of a community from the moment you arrive. There are plenty of opportunities to make social connections and develop leadership and life skills that will help you succeed at AUT and beyond.

ASV is a safe and social accommodation option, and particularly convenient if you're studying health sciences, sport and recreation, or education at AUT North Campus.

Rooms, facilities, and services

Apartments
Each apartment is fully furnished and has 5 or 6 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, a kitchen and a lounge/dining area. There are 40 apartments (204 students). Electricity, water, gas and unlimited wifi are included in your accommodation fee.

Bedrooms
All bedrooms are standard size (3.2m x 2.5m) and have:

  • Double bed or a king-single bed (the type of bed depends on the room you're allocated)
  • Wardrobe
  • Desk and chair
  • Bookshelf
  • Towel rail
  • Heater

Who you'll live with
Apartment groups are chosen based on age and course of study, but we will do our best to accommodate any special requests. When you apply, you can tell us if you would prefer to live in a single or mixed gender group and add any comments like rainbow friendly or no alcohol.

Security and support services
Akoranga Student Village (ASV) is a safe, supportive place to live – with help and support nearby whenever you need it.

  • 24-hour onsite security (AUT staff are on site during the day and security staff are on site overnight)
  • 24-hour onsite pastoral care (Night Duty Officer, live-in residential assistants (RAs are student staff members who provide support to residents)

ASV provides a Residential Life programme during the year, so you can get to know other people and participate in social events. The Residential Life Manager lives on site.

Auckland University of Technology North Campus Services & Facilities

The North Campus provides a vast array of amenities, such as student accommodation, cafes, and a huge gym. The fitness centers provide modern gym equipment, along with a wide variety of group workout sessions and entry to other athletic and physical fitness services.

The Te Mātāpuna Library & Learning Services provides various services to help students maximize their studying experience at this institution.

AUT offers free and confidential counseling sessions and mental health support to all students residing in New Zealand.

Psychology is a broad and exciting discipline that covers a range of approaches to studying and understanding behaviour. Explore how people interact with the environment and each other, and how personal, biological, social and environmental factors influence behaviour. You develop research and critical thinking skills, and learn to integrate and present information from diverse perspectives.

Bachelor of Health Science - Nursing

Nurses are critical to the success of the healthcare system, and AUT-trained nurses are recognised as some of the best in New Zealand. Study the Bachelor of Health Science (Nursing) to start your nursing career.

Our nursing degree focuses on interprofessional practice and care, just like it is in the workplace. You’ll learn that health and healthcare is multifaceted and dynamic, and goes beyond health and illness care to nurture the growth of healthy communities. Throughout your studies you complete 1,200 hours of practical experience in hospitals and in the community.

Bachelor of Health Science in Physiotherapy

AUT offers one of the largest physiotherapy program in the Southern Hemisphere. Our physiotherapy graduates are recognised throughout the world for their knowledge and leadership in healthcare.

Physiotherapists help people improve their quality of life. As a physiotherapist you work with a wide range of people, helping them overcome physical problems due to ageing, injury, diseases, disorders, conditions or environmental factors. Most New Zealand physiotherapists work privately, treating acute sport and accidental injuries, chronic pain, back and neck problems. You also find physiotherapists in most hospitals and general practices.

Bachelor of Health Science in Case Management

Study the Case Management major in the Bachelor of Health Science degree and gain the skills for non-clinical case management roles, working with clinicians, clients and families to develop and oversee a plan of care.

Ageing populations and more people living with long-term conditions mean there’s a need for a co-ordinated approach to healthcare. Currently there aren’t enough health professionals with the skills to support such an approach. The Case Management major addresses this need.

Bachelor of Health Science in Occupational Therapy

Study the Bachelor of Health Science (Occupational Therapy) and develop the skills to become an occupational therapist, and promote the health and wellbeing of individuals, groups and communities.

Occupational therapists help people participate in everyday activities including learning, communication, interpersonal interaction and relationships, mobility, self-care, domestic life, and social life. Occupational therapists can also modify people’s environment  or the activity itself to help them participate in the activity. The occupational therapy degree is intensive and involves learning in an interprofessional environment, in the classroom and in clinical practice settings.

Auckland University of Technology North Campus Admission Requirements

The following requirements must be fulfilled to get admitted to the Auckland University of Technology

  • International students are considered on a case-by-case basis. There can be some additional requirements, depending on the program you are applying to.
  • Students are required to submit their original transcripts from their last attended academic institutions. If they are not in English, then submit the translated copies of the same along with the originals.
  • Applicants must be 18 years old at the time of the beginning of the course.
  • You need to submit your English language proficiency test scores if you are coming from a non-English speaking country.

Please note:- If you are not a New Zealand citizen or a permanent resident of New Zealand, you must obtain a valid study permit before you come to New Zealand.
