Established in 1915 by the Sisters of Loretto, who sought to make education accessible to all, Webster has an extraordinary history reflecting a determination to equalize higher education.
Recognizing the growing interconnectedness of our world, for 40 years we have been building a network of campuses to serve local communities. Today, we serve more than 10,000 students across 50 residential, metro, military, and international locations.
As part of our global, interdisciplinary vision, we’re committed to providing a personal educational experience to every student. We offer four-year degrees, accelerated master’s degrees, doctoral programs, certificates, and professional development series — all with more than 160 program offerings and a variety of flexible study options.
Housing Options
All freshmen enrolled at the St. Louis main campus are required to live on campus for their first two years at Webster University. Exceptions to this requirement are granted for freshmen living with their parents within a 35-mile radius of the main campus in Webster Groves. Undergraduate international transfer students are also required to live on campus for their first year enrolled in classes at the main campus.
Additionally, all study abroad students (undergraduate and graduate) are required to reside in on-campus housing for the duration of their study abroad experience. All site transfer students are required to reside on-campus for their first year enrolled at the Main Campus.
Webster University offers a variety of services and facilities to its students, including state-of-the-art studios and recording facilities, photography studios and labs, and a student media lab through the School of Communications. The Fitness Center is available to students, faculty, staff, and retirees, with memberships offered to alumni, special affiliates, and family members of the university community. Access to the Fitness Center requires a valid Webster University ID and adherence to policies regarding appropriate attire, cleanliness, equipment usage, and respect for others. Personal music is allowed as long as it does not disturb other users. In addition to these amenities, Webster University provides excellent teachers, mentors, activities, and clubs for students to enjoy.
Webster University offers career counselling for its students. In addition to this, the university boasts a variety of on-campus dining options, ensuring that students can always find something to eat. For those who live on campus, the University Library is easily accessible and provides an excellent research resource and a convenient location for study group meetings.

Bachelor of Science in Accounting
The bachelor of science (BS) in accounting is designed to provide students with the core knowledge, skills and tools necessary to successfully enter the profession of accounting. The accounting curriculum will allow students to explore and appreciate the career opportunities in public accounting, corporate accounting and other related areas. The program is also designed to offer the student a general, diversified business background that is significantly important to the accounting professional in today's technology driven, global business environment. However, the focus of the Webster University accounting program is to prepare students for the Certified Public Accounting examination.

Bachelor of Arts in Advertising and Marketing Communications
Students in the award-winning advertising and marketing communications major gain hands-on experience as they prepare to enter one of today's fastest-growing and rapidly evolving industries. Building on a strong academic base in the liberal arts, students are challenged to think strategically and creatively to solve client problems using a full spectrum of advertising and marketing communications tools. From traditional print and broadcast advertising, to social media, mobile applications and emerging technologies, students learn to develop fully integrated campaigns that will achieve a company or organization’s promotional objectives.
To give each student experience in multiple career roles, the foundation curriculum encourages active participation in all phases of the marketing communications process, including research, planning, strategy development, copywriting, visual communication, art direction, budgeting, media buying social media, mobile marketing and campaign analysis.
To strengthen a specific area of interest and stand out in a competitive job market, students are encouraged to choose one of three area of study: planning and strategy, copywriting or art direction. Through one-on-one discussions with advisors, students choose highly focused specialization courses and fine-tune their portfolios to prepare for an internship most appropriate to their goals. The advanced courses are built around opportunities for real-world experience.
Students are encouraged to boost their skillset and marketability with a variety of minors and certificate programs. They are also encouraged to become active in the on-campus Webster Advertising Club (WAC) and its activities with local professional organizations for networking opportunities.

Bachelor of Arts in Animation (STEM)
The BA in animation offers students the opportunity to learn core principles and techniques focusing on storytelling, motion, drawing, performance and expression through traditional and digital forms. Each student will undertake an intensive course of study including character animation, experimental concepts, fine art techniques and diverse applications, building a strong, global foundation before embarking upon an eventual area of concentration.

Bachelor of Arts in Sociology
Sociology is, at its core, the study of human behavior in social settings. With a focus on positive social change, Webster sociology students develop the analytical skills necessary for critically evaluating the diversity of human belief systems. Sociology graduates pursue a variety of post-graduate opportunities from law school or governmental professions to sociological research, business, or academic careers.
Sociology students enjoy diverse coursework and many opportunities to supplement their studies. The curriculum emphasizes inequality and social organizations. We emphasize emerging trends in the field, including informatics, environmental sociology, and social network analysis. Students may supplement their studies with coursework in human rights, criminology, women, gender and sexuality studies, and cultural anthropology. Webster sociology alumni have gone on to successful careers in diverse fields including bank manager, park ranger, teacher and political scientist.

Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences with Emphasis in Health and Medicine (STEM)
The bachelor of science (BS) degree is designed for students who seek a rigorous, cross-disciplinary education in the physical sciences. Additional coursework is taken in the areas of biology, chemistry, physics and mathematics, providing the student with a broad scientific foundation suitable for careers in biotechnology, medicine, science-based research, health-related professions, chemical and molecular disciplines and advanced graduate studies.
Students can earn the BS in biological sciences alone, or with one of four emphases: chemistry, computational biology, health and medicine, or research and technology.
Emphasis in Health and Medicine
The emphasis in health and medicine is designed for students interested in a continuing education in any of the various medical fields, particularly those pursuing a pre-professional program like pre-med or pre-vet. It is meant primarily for students preparing for careers such as medical doctors, physician's assistants, dentists, veterinarians, chiropractors, physical therapists or athletic trainers. In addition to the science courses listed below, students entering health and medical fields are encouraged to take 4 semesters of a foreign language and 2 semesters of writing-intensive courses.
