With internationalisation revolutionising education globally, the ability to teach in culturally and linguistically diverse classrooms is no longer only needed by English as a Second Language teachers but is becoming essential for all teachers, at all levels of education in Australia and globally. The Master of Arts in TESOL develops knowledge and skills necessary for teaching English as a Second or Additional Language and for working in diverse classrooms in varied educational contexts, in Australia and internationally. The program is designed to provide prospective teachers with expert knowledge and skills for the initial experience of language teaching. The program also can provide experienced educators with an opportunity to extend their qualifications and gain advanced professional development.  

The Master of Arts in TESOL involves the completion of twelve (12) subjects which develop expert theoretical knowledge of second language teaching and learning, and provide opportunities for teacher trainees to apply these theories in a language classroom. Students engage in synchronous and asynchronous online/multimodal sessions. These sessions explore principles of teaching and learning English as a second/additional language or dialect and link theories with their classroom applications. Students develop a personalised philosophy and practical approach to classroom teaching. The program examines many areas of language teacher education such as how languages work and function in a society and how they are learnt. Students also learn how to be effective teachers in traditional and online classrooms, how to design language assessment and language programs.   The Practicum of approximately 30-hours, enables students to learn from and observe other language teachers in action, and teach for a minimum of 6 hours under their supervision. Pending their performance in the program, we can assist students located on the Gold Coast in completing the Practicum at Bond University College, an English Language Centre on the Bond University campus.

If students are unable to complete their Practicum at Bond University College, it is their responsibility to secure the placement in another ELT centre. Depending on prior qualifications and individual arrangements, students may organise their Practicum in schools (if they are registered teachers) or in other ELT Centres. Many teachers complete the Practicum at the place of their current employment.   Students work with a lecturer and peers in weekly interactive and collaborative sessions which provide a unique opportunity for becoming part of a dynamic learning community. Students also engage in self-paced learning through pre-recorded and post-recorded resources and gamified learning activities.   Students can commence their studies in the Master of Arts in TESOL in the January, May or September semester. All domestic students students can study either part-time or full-time. International students who study in Australia must enrol in the full-time study option. It is estimated that students need to spend approximately 10 hours per week of study per subject, in order to successfully complete it. Students who are in employment are, therefore, advised to undertake their studies part-time, particularly in their first semester.

It provides students with a thorough grounding in essential areas of substantive law and access to a wide choice of law elective subjects, including the option of completing a specialisation. Integrated skills and professionalism program is embedded in the degree and focuses on core legal skills essential to the practice of law. The Bachelor of Laws provides an engaging learning experience that challenges students academically and prepares them practically for a legal career.

The Master of City Planning (Professional) program aims to produce innovative practice-oriented graduates with the capacity to play a leading role in creating sustainable cities and regions.  This program is designed to equip students for rewarding professional work planning for 21st century global-local challenges including rapid urbanisation, climate change, resource constraints, globalisation and technological disruption.  With its distinctive interdisciplinary urban design orientation, the program will cultivate city planners and urban designers with the global perspective, knowledge, skills and adaptability to make a significant contribution to addressing these challenges.  The program concludes with a 20-week Professional Portfolio subject aimed at equipping students for professional work in City Planning.

The Bachelor of Actuarial Science is an innovative and immersive program that combines elements of economics, finance, statistics, data analytics and advanced mathematics to develop techniques for the management of risk and business decision making. Employment opportunities include working as an investment analyst, portfolio manager, actuarial consultant, insurance actuary, superannuation actuary, risk analyst, big data analyst, liability manager and high-level manager. Successful completion of the program can lead to Part I qualification with the Actuaries Institute. The Bachelor of Global Studies (Sustainability) is a unique interdisciplinary degree that will equip you with the capacity to formulate solutions to the challenges of globalisation and the development of sustainable communities. The structure of the program follows world megatrends, reflected in the interconnectivity and interplay within diverse fields of study: climate change, sustainable development, global health and disease, international institutions and transnational business. The program also aims to prepare you for fronting increased human security threats through sustained transnational collaboration. The global dialogue needed for the security of globalised communities requires competencies in International Relations, diplomacy and intercultural partnership. The Bachelor of Global Studies (Sustainability) develops you to be an active global citizen with the knowledge and skills to enable you to contribute to the development of sustainable societies of the future. Depending on your interests and needs, you will choose a major to further develop the knowledge gained throughout the program's compulsory subjects and specialise in a field of choice:  Australian Studies, Digital Media, Language and Culture (French, Spanish, Chinese and Japanese), Global Business and International Relations.

If you are looking to develop or enhance your expertise in the rapidly expanding field of professional communication, the Master of Communication is for you. As a student in the program, you will gain applied skills and knowledge in advertising, public relations, social media, human communication theory, relational communication, organisational communication and leadership, and communication research. You will also undertake a research project of your own choosing. Throughout the program, you will develop theoretical knowledge and practical skills in professional communication to equip you for roles in the fields of advertising, public relations, social media, research, management and leadership, and internal communication in private, public, and non-profit organisations.

The Bachelor of Psychological Science provides students with a scientific understanding of normal psychological processes such as memory, learning, motivation, psychobiology, personality, emotion, developmental psychology, and social relationships, as well as training in abnormal psychology. A basic understanding of these topics is acquired across the two introductory subjects before a greater depth of coverage is undertaken within the advanced second and third-level subjects. Students also participate in laboratory work and are introduced to the Australian Psychological Society Code of Ethics. The Bachelor of Design in Architecture provides a broad design education in a creative studio-based environment focusing heavily upon learning to design through hands-on making and the use of state-of-the-art digital tools. Learning in a design studio comprises the majority of coursework and is project-based. This features projects focused upon real-world scenarios, collaborating with students and external guests from interdisciplinary fields of expertise to develop solutions for a range of stakeholders and end-users. In addition to practical skills and disciplinary knowledge learned through studio and seminar-based studies in design, communications, technology, history, theory, and professional studies, students acquire ‘soft skills’ in collaboration, teamwork, time management, interpersonal communication, self-critique, and overall, spatial intelligence which is unique to an architectural education. Through the program offerings at the Abedian School of Architecture, issues of pressing international and national concern form the core content of the studio curriculum. Among the most prominent of these are the challenges posed by our contemporary condition globally, one characterised by rapid urbanisation, environmental change, technological emergence, and increasing socioeconomic inequity. The Bachelor of Design in Architecture aims to prepare students for globally-relevant employment by immersion into a program that provides broad yet focused experiences in synthesising diverse information in the resolution of complex creative-design challenges.     Established as a highly-flexible and student-focused degree program, students will study for 2 years full time but may also choose to study part-time. Studies include content from the disciplines of architecture, digital media, construction, urban planning, film, and university electives. Key highlights of the program include an annual all-school “charrette”, several off-campus study tours (including international study opportunities), a monthly international guest-lecture series, study with distinguished guest faculty and Architects-In-Residence, a bi-annual student exhibition and publication, and an internationally and nationally recognised academic staff of scholars and practitioner-teachers. Students will undertake a brief period of work-integrated learning to provide relevant industry experience prior to graduation. Students undertake the Bachelor of Design in Architecture in a unique setting: the national and international award-winning Abedian School of Architecture. This facility and its associated Fabrication and Robotics Lab are dedicated for student use, creating an environment to support creative activity that is accessible 24/7 throughout the year. Students enjoy their own studio-based desk in the School provided for the duration of their studies, which becomes the point of personalised contact with program staff for an individualised, highly supported education. The limited student cohort size of the School is maintained to ensure all students have unique access to workshop facilities and program staff that is unparalleled almost anywhere globally. The Bachelor of Design in Architecture is a standard degree pathway leading toward a Master of Architecture, which is the terminal award allowing graduates to gain registration as an Architect in Australia and other jurisdictions that recognise the award. Graduates of the Bachelor of Design in Architecture program may progress to the Master of Architecture upon application and review of undergraduate performance. However, entry to the Master of Architecture is not automatic
