The Bachelor of Medical Science aims to develop your skills to apply knowledge of Clinical Measurement, Nutrition or Pathology to clinical practice in a health professional role, or Biotechnology in support industries and medical research.

The course is designed to build a high level of technical and evaluative skill so you can assess and implement recommendations for best practice in patient testing, monitoring, education or to develop therapeutics in the cutting-edge medical biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry. The course also aims to develop high level communication skills so that you can interact positively with patients/clients, other health professionals or industry leaders and are ready for the clinical or scientific work environment.

Clinical decision making and problem solving ability will be promoted through opportunities such as developing skills in designing, conducting and interpreting medical research.

Nutrition

Nutrition is an important and diverse field in today's society. Choosing to study Nutrition will enable you to work with individuals or communities to promote healthy lifestyle choices and prevent diet-related disease. Completing the Nutrition specialisation will prepare you for a career in nutrition education, advocacy, food advertising and communication, research, nutrition science, nutrition behaviour, sport and exercise and biomedical nutrition. Please note this major is only available at our Rockhampton campus.

The Master of Engineering allows you the opportunity to develop professional skills such as teamwork and communication while applying and further developing the theoretical knowledge you gained in your undergraduate study. If you are a practicing engineer, this is a versatile course that allows you to extend or expand your engineering practice.  

This course begins with an introduction to Australian engineering practice, providing the opportunity to apply discipline knowledge and skills in an authentic project, in some cases with an industry mentor, and will help to prepare you for engineering practice. You will then complete an internship of a minimum of 300 hours to gain work experience required to meet the accreditation requirements of the course. If you have significant and recent engineering experience (at least 480 hours) you may opt out of this unit and choose an elective unit as an alternative.

Depending on your choice of elective units, you will study one or two units from topics including sustainability, mining, project management and rail providing the opportunity to contextualise your learning to your current or preferred industry. Finally, you will complete a major research project that will demonstrate your ability to work as a professional engineer.

This qualification reflects the role of highly skilled senior operators who use a broad range of hospitality skills combined with managerial skills and sound knowledge of industry to coordinate hospitality operations. They operate independently, have responsibility for others and make a range of operational business decisions. This qualification allows for multiskilling and for specialisation in accommodation services, cookery, food and beverage and gaming.

The Cookery, Restaurant and Bar Specialisation will give you skills and knowledge in Cookery and Restaurant service. As the course progresses you will develop a broad range of hospitality skills combined with managerial skills and industry knowledge and develop essential skills to manage and operate a hospitality establishment. These skills will make a well-rounded and multi-skilled employee because of your understanding of numerous roles across the hospitality sector.

The Restaurant and Bar Specialisation will give you the edge on how to succeed in hospitality management, designed to improve your ability to lead and manage people. This specialisation is an opportunity to progress through the ranks by gaining greater levels of knowledge and experience in supervisory roles. This hands on course provides you the training and development you require for your future career.

An Associate Degree of Information Technology will provide you with a foundation to begin your pursuit of a fast-paced, challenging and dynamic career in the information technology industry.

The core units within this course will provide you with a solid grounding in the core body of information technology knowledge and skills as defined by the Australian Computer Society. The course allows you a wide choice of electives to pursue your area of interest.

The Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Sciences will equip you with practical skills in the various disciplines relevant to exercise and sport sciences such as anatomy and physiology, nutrition, exercise physiology, biomechanics, exercise and sport psychology, motor control and learning, and exercise prescription and delivery.

You will gain a comprehensive understanding of the processes and mechanisms of the human body as they relate to exercise and sport science and have the flexibility to pursue an area of interest, with your choice of Minor. The Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Sciences includes work-integrated learning placements giving you exposure to real workplace environments. The course delivers the right mix of skills-based training and research-led teaching to succeed in today’s agribusiness, livestock and cropping industries. Thanks to our partnership with local industry, such as Victoria’s Rural Industries Skills Training (RIST), you’ll benefit from project-based training on extensive crop, dairy, sheep, equine and beef production facilities. Graduates from RIST can apply for direct entry into the Bachelor of Agriculture.

The first year of the Bachelor of Agriculture will provide the foundation framework that you will use to develop increasingly complex learnings developed in the context of industry-relevant problems. In the second year, you will build your core skills by developing your systematic thinking by learning about emerging agricultural innovation through an industry placement. You will select to complete either a major in agribusiness or two out of three minors in livestock, cropping or business, during the course. In your third year, you will acquire information about agricultural practices and technology and develop advanced-level technical and people-management skills. You will complete the course by producing a real-world consulting project that will address a client-driven whole-of-system problem.

If you're an established or aspiring information technology (IT) professional the Master of Information Technology will expand your professional knowledge and skills in information technology (IT). During the course, you will study a common first term made up of four units covering project management, introductory programming, ICT services management and information systems analysis and design. Following completion of your first four units, you will begin studying in your chosen major: networks and information security; mobile application development; and software design and development. Speech pathology is an exciting career that will enable you the opportunity to work with people across the lifespan. Completing the Bachelor of Speech Pathology (Honours) at CQUniversity will equip you with valuable skills to enable you to work with people of all ages who have communication or swallowing difficulties.
