Overview

Study the Bachelor of Nursing and gain the knowledge and skills needed to become a Registered Nurse (Division 1). This course prepares you to be reflective about your practice as a nurse and develop clinical reasoning skills in order to confidently and safely engage in contemporary nursing practice in a variety of environments and contexts and adapt to the needs of people from diverse backgrounds.

Through this course, you will acquire skills to provide person-centred care and collaborate with other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team. You will seek evidence to ensure safe quality practice and act in a professional, ethical and compassionate manner. In addition, you will learn to nurture the development of nursing as a practice discipline and demonstrate leadership in healthcare. You will explore how life-long learning skills can facilitate continuing professional development.

Clinical learning is a key element of the Bachelor of Nursing and you will be required to undertake 800 hours of professional experience placement in a variety of settings with different health organisations. You must meet specific mandatory health, safety and security requirements to be eligible to attend each professional experience placement. Professional experience placements may be limited in your community. This means that you may be placed in other locations and you may be required to relocate to complete your placements.

The course delivers the right mix of skills-based training and research-led teaching to succeed in today’s agribusiness, livestock and cropping industries. Thanks to our partnership with local industry, such as Victoria’s Rural Industries Skills Training (RIST), you’ll benefit from project-based training on extensive crop, dairy, sheep, equine and beef production facilities. Graduates from RIST can apply for direct entry into the Bachelor of Agriculture.

The first year of the Bachelor of Agriculture will provide the foundation framework that you will use to develop increasingly complex learnings developed in the context of industry-relevant problems. In the second year, you will build your core skills by developing your systematic thinking by learning about emerging agricultural innovation through an industry placement. You will select to complete either a major in agribusiness or two out of three minors in livestock, cropping or business, during the course. In your third year, you will acquire information about agricultural practices and technology and develop advanced-level technical and people-management skills. You will complete the course by producing a real-world consulting project that will address a client-driven whole-of-system problem.

The Master of Information Systems provides you the opportunity to extend your knowledge and skills in information technology, with a focus on business analysis skills at a professional level. Within this highly relevant framework you will be well prepared to contribute to future growth and change, whilst at the same time enhancing your individual advancement opportunities. This course develops your capacity to manage the functional responsibility for choosing, implementing and maintaining information systems within an organisation in any industry.

Choose from a range of minors including artificial intelligence, internet of things, mobile application development, networks and information security, project management, or software design and development and tailor your studies to suit your career goals and interests.

This course will provide you with the choice of completing an internship or project stream to contextualise your learning. Generally, the internship will be made of up a 10-week placement with a relevant organisation, with assessments completed throughout the term. Occupational therapy is a dynamic person-centred health profession. Practitioners support people of all ages, and their families, to engage in the occupations and activities of daily life, to optimise physical and mental health and wellbeing. Occupational therapists must be registered to practice in Australia, and may work in a range of government, educational, and industry settings, as well as in private enterprise, throughout the world.

The aim of our accredited Occupational Therapy Course is to develop highly competent and autonomous occupational therapy graduates, skilled in inter-professional and person-/family-centred occupational therapy practice. To achieve this, the course is informed by contemporary research and occupational therapy theories and models. It is taught by occupational therapists and other suitably qualified professionals who are skilled and experienced in the diverse areas of occupational therapy practice. Although it addresses local, national, and global community needs, a particular emphasis is on training graduates to work in rural and regional communities. The occupational therapy course aligns seamlessly with CQUniversity's focus on social innovation and status as Australia’s first Ashoka U Changemaker Campus.

Your education and training will include recognising aspects relevant to the person, the environment, and occupations that represent strengths and barriers to occupational engagement; and addressing these to support people to achieve their goals. You will engage in a minimum of 1000 hours of clinical practice, including full-time placements, for which you will need to meet a number of prerequisite requirements.
