The aim of this course is to give you a comprehensive overview of the scientific discipline of psychology and its applications. The course is delivered in accordance with the foundational (level one) competencies for three-year undergraduate psychology programs as specified by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC). You will acquire an understanding of the underlying principles, theories and concepts within the discipline. In addition, you will develop knowledge of the range of core research areas that make up the discipline, and an understanding of the methodologies and statistical techniques used by researchers for information gathering and analysis. There will be opportunities for you to explore applied and professional uses of psychology. In addition, you will be introduced to psychological theory, research, and applied and professional uses of psychology in an ethical and culturally responsive context.

Upon completion of this course, you will have a highly marketable quali?cation. This course is universally acknowledged as an indication of competence and achievement in understanding human thought and behaviour that can be applied in a variety of people-oriented vocations. Graduating with this qualification, however, will not allow you to call yourself a 'psychologist'. This requires further study involving an honours course (4th year of study) and then an accredited Psychology Board of Australia pathway.

Successful completion of an accredited three-year psychology sequence of study will mean you are eligible to apply for a competitive entry position in the Bachelor of Psychological Science (honours) (CC42) at CQUniversity. Honours level study will prepare you for either the coursework necessary for conditional registration as a psychologist in Australia and/or research higher degree studies in psychology.

If you have successfully completed the First year of the course, but do not wish to continue in the course you may request to exit the course with a Diploma in Behavioural Science.

This qualification reflects the role of commercial cooks who have a supervisory or team leading role in the kitchen. They operate independently or with limited guidance from others and use discretion to solve non-routine problems. This qualification provides a pathway to work in organisations such as restaurants, hotels, clubs, pubs, cafes and coffee shops, or to run a small business in these sectors.

The Diploma of Information and Communications Technology combines theoretical and practical approaches, providing you with the confidence to pursue a career in this growing industry.

During your course, you will gain advanced theoretical and technical knowledge in the clinical disciplines of laboratory medicine for application in the diagnostic setting. Students who are not eligible for advanced standing will be able to refine their laboratory skills by attending a residential school block at our Rockhampton campus, in which travel and accommodation costs are provided for students that are admitted to the Melbourne campus.

This qualification reflects the role of highly skilled senior operators who use a broad range of hospitality skills combined with managerial skills and sound knowledge of industry to coordinate hospitality operations. They operate independently, have responsibility for others and make a range of operational business decisions. This qualification allows for multiskilling and for specialisation in accommodation services, cookery, food and beverage and gaming.

The Cookery, Restaurant and Bar Specialisation will give you skills and knowledge in Cookery and Restaurant service. As the course progresses you will develop a broad range of hospitality skills combined with managerial skills and industry knowledge and develop essential skills to manage and operate a hospitality establishment. These skills will make a well-rounded and multi-skilled employee because of your understanding of numerous roles across the hospitality sector.

The Restaurant and Bar Specialisation will give you the edge on how to succeed in hospitality management, designed to improve your ability to lead and manage people. This specialisation is an opportunity to progress through the ranks by gaining greater levels of knowledge and experience in supervisory roles. This hands on course provides you the training and development you require for your future career.

Podiatrists are health professionals who deal with the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of medical and surgical conditions of the feet and lower limbs. Graduates from RIST can apply for direct entry into the Bachelor of Agriculture.

The first year of the Bachelor of Agriculture will provide the foundation framework that you will use to develop increasingly complex learnings developed in the context of industry-relevant problems. In the second year, you will build your core skills by developing your systematic thinking by learning about emerging agricultural innovation through an industry placement. You will select to complete either a major in agribusiness or two out of three minors in livestock, cropping or business, during the course. The newly designed Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) develops your problem-solving, teamwork and communication skills and incorporates project-based learning so you can graduate work ready.

The first year of your studies provides a generic understanding of engineering, allowing you to experience each different area of engineering before you choose a particular path to follow.
