The social-ecological model of health forms the basis of the Graduate Diploma in Public Health and you will be introduced to complex adaptive systems thinking and how this influences the way we think about public health.

This approach reflects contemporary trends in public health and provides the basis of innovative interventions for social change. You will undertake units that outline the origins and evolution of public health and the underlying principles of community-based and community-led public health. This course will provide you with the choice of completing an internship or project stream to contextualise your learning. Generally, the internship will be made of up a 10-week placement with a relevant organisation, with assessments completed throughout the term. Please note, internships cannot be taken at your current employer. Alternatively, the capstone stream provides the opportunity to apply your knowledge to an industry-relevant project. Projects in the capstone stream may be taken with your employer, provided other students can also participate in the same project.
