As a result, cyber security professionals are in high demand around the world to protect organizations in all sectors from increasingly sophisticated cyber threats. Deakin’s Master of Cyber Security equips you with the specialized skills to investigate and combat cybercrime and prepares you for a successful career in cyber security anywhere in the world. 

Throughout the Master of Cyber Security, you will learn how to detect, analyze and confront cyber security challenges. You’ll focus on a range of studies, and gain knowledge about system security and digital forensics, analytics, organizational security, and human aspects of cyber security. This vital experience prepares you to counter the number one criminal threat to modern-day society. 

Develop an in-depth understanding of human biology with the Bachelor of Biomedical Science and graduate with the skills and experience to play an important role in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases at molecular, cellular and systems levels. Expertise in biology and the science behind disease puts you in a position to make a real difference. Explore early diagnosis, disease progression and prognosis, and the role of pharmaceutical science in the treatment of disease and improved health.

Medical Genomics
The Medical Genomics major will examine core genomics areas, including medical and human genomics, comparative genomics, microbial and forensic genomics, biotechnology (drug discovery) and phylogenomics. You will gain a sound understanding of associated methodologies including Next Generation Sequencing, high throughput genotyping, metagenomics, small RNA and transcriptome analysis. You will acquire quantitative and bioinformatics skills required for genomics research and big data analysis and will apply the bioinformatics concepts and methods, programs and pipelines required to support contemporary genomics research and big data analysis and interpretation. The impact of personalised medicine and ethical and social issues related to the use of genomics in the context of human health and diversity, biomedical research and biotechnology will also be discussed.

English - Literature

Deakin’s Bachelor of Forensic Science exposes you to the full scope of modern forensic science, from simulated crime scenes to courtroom presentations. With a strong focus on practical training, you’ll graduate with the skills needed to confidently examine, interpret and present forensic evidence. You’ll enhance your courtroom skills by building knowledge of the science behind criminal investigations and gaining practical experience in our unique crime scene training facility.

Forensic science at Deakin is a comprehensive and flexible degree. You’ll cover a wide range of disciplines including illicit drugs analysis, DNA analysis, and more. You can customize your degree to your interests by selecting to specialize in forensic biology or forensic chemistry. Sociology

Sociology is the academic study of society. We explore social change and how social structures, social institutions and culture shape the lives of individuals and communities. Deakin Sociology engages with contemporary issues in the global and Australian landscape such as how society shapes (and is shaped by) illness and health policies, gender and sexuality, religion and new forms of spirituality, migration and inequality, violence and social control. Deakin sociologists are active social researchers with expertise in a variety of methodologies including digital and traditional ethnographies, visual methods, in-depth interviews, focus groups, survey research, experimental design in sociological research, and our graduates learn to apply these skills to the study of social life.

Join one of the strongest growth areas within the health sector* with Deakin's Bachelor of Medical Imaging. Gain the latest knowledge in medical radiation science and develop your skills in techniques like general radiography, computed tomography (CT), digital vascular imaging and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). You will learn in our world-class medical imaging labs, which have the capabilities of real medical imaging clinics.

Throughout the course, you will explore important professionalism, communication, ethical and legal aspects of healthcare. Clinical placements start in your first year and are based in the metro, rural and regional settings. You will gain valuable clinical practice in clinical centers and hospitals, and in our medical imaging training unit, giving you diverse experience and skills that ensure you graduate confident and career-ready. As a graduate, you will be eligible for registration as a Medical Radiation Practitioner (diagnostic radiographer).
