Visual arts and photography

The Visual Art and Photography major combines in-depth disciplinary training in visual art and photography practices and digital technologies alongside a sequence of open-ended studio-based studies encouraging cross-disciplinary and interdisciplinary thinking. Graduate with a professional qualification in optometry in just three and a half years with Deakin's Bachelor of Vision Science/Master of Optometry. With occupation growth expected to reach 15.1% by 2026^ you will gain the discipline-specific knowledge and skills to be work-ready and eligible to apply for registration as a practising optometrist in Australia and New Zealand. This program has a strong emphasis on understanding the visual health issues impacting regional and rural Australia, and the health gap between members of these communities and those living in urban centres.

Sociology

Sociology is the academic study of society. We explore social change and how social structures, social institutions and culture shape the lives of individuals and communities. Deakin Sociology engages with contemporary issues in the global and Australian landscape such as how society shapes (and is shaped by) illness and health policies, gender and sexuality, religion and new forms of spirituality, migration and inequality, violence and social control. Psychological science

This sequence prepares students for postgraduate training towards becoming a practicing registered psychologist. To practice as a psychologist students must complete an undergraduate degree with a major sequence in psychology followed by a fourth year of study in psychology (an Honours in Psychology or a Graduate Diploma of Psychology) that are accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC).
