Visual communication design

Enter the dynamic world of professional design with a major in Visual Communication Design. Learn the tools, strategies and techniques required to be an adaptive, creative practitioner. From day one you’ll be mentored by established designers and industry leaders, learning the fundamental building blocks of design to translate ideas into smart design solutions addressing pressing global issues. Using the latest technologies, you’ll work across industry sectors including digital and publishing, social media, mobile apps, the web, and immersive, and interactive experiences. With Deakin University’s Bachelor of Arts - Visual Communication Design major, you’ll look at the world differently by developing critical skills appropriate for tomorrow’s world of complex systems involving people, machines, and services. The Master of International Relations aims to produce graduates who are able to demonstrate high-level skills of theoretical and empirical analysis and interpret global issues and events. This course will give you a substantial understanding of the complexities of contemporary international relations.

You’ll examine key contemporary issues and developments around the world, particularly in the Asia Pacific region. The program also offers optional postgraduate internships, giving you the opportunity to get experience overseas.

Develop an in-depth understanding of human biology with the Bachelor of Biomedical Science and graduate with the skills and experience to play an important role in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases at molecular, cellular and systems levels. You will build your fundamental knowledge of human biology and health and focus on one of six specialisations:

Environmental Health
Environmental Health deals with many factors in our natural and built environment that affects human health. You will learn how microorganisms and toxic substances interact with biological systems and how this leads to clinical effects. Risks to healthy environments in urban, industrial, agricultural and/or natural settings will be evaluated using epidemiology, toxicology and statistics. You will also learn about risk assessment and risk management through policy, legislation, and integration of risk management with environmental management principles. This major is recommended for students interested in working in public health policy, environmental health and related areas.

Deakin's Bachelor of Business gives you the skills and experience needed to succeed in the business world. The Entrepreneurship and Innovation major will provide skills, strategic tools, perspectives, and work integrated learning experience to prepare you for careers such as starting your own business, family-business entrepreneurs, social entrepreneurs, or to help existing organizations to launch and manage new products and enter into new markets.

Explore how humanity can meet its growing needs without limiting the ability of future generations to meet theirs in the Master of Sustainability (Professional). You’ll develop advanced knowledge and contemporary skills to develop successful sustainability strategies by applying multidisciplinary and ‘triple bottom line’ approaches to policy and management solutions, balancing environmental, social and economic considerations.

You’ll build a solid foundation in sustainability, environmental science and global change before undertaking specialised study in an area of your choosing.
