Clinical placements begin in Trimester 1 of first year and continue throughout every trimester of the course, totalling 800 hours. Clinical placements enable you to care for people from diverse cultural backgrounds in a range of healthcare settings, enabling application of knowledge and further development of technical and non-technical skills. They are undertaken in various metropolitan, regional and rural healthcare settings and are supported by qualified and experienced clinicians.

Journalism

Get hands-on learning experience and be taught by our expert team of journalism and media practitioners who have extensive experience across all the key media platforms. You'll learn how to identify, research, plan and produce newsworthy stories. Final-year students take part in a program of intensive news production in a digital newsroom, graduating with the ability to create and edit word, sound and vision to craft stories, news and features for print, online, radio, television or multimedia newsrooms.

Philosophy
Doing Philosophy not only involves asking the big questions, it teaches important skills. Deakin's Bachelor of Nursing/Bachelor of Psychological Science develops your understanding of human behaviour and builds the skills needed to become a successful nurse. With a wealth of real-world skills gained through your clinical placements, you will graduate ready for work as a registered nurse from the #33 ranked nursing School in the world. You will also be eligible to pursue further study towards qualification as a registered psychologist.

This combined degree helps you understand personality, the brain, emotion, underlying mental processes and the factors that lead to changes in behaviour. You will also investigate how animals respond and adapt to changes in the environment, including climate change. The program has a strong focus on Australian fauna and its unique importance in the global environment.
