RMIT's Bachelor of Food Technology and Nutrition will provide you with a foundational knowledge of the science of manufacturing food and making it safe and nutritious.

Major in food technology or nutrition (or both). The nutrition major focuses on human health and nutrition subjects, while the food technology major deals with traditional and novel technologies employed in the manufacture of food products, as well as sensory evaluation of foods, product development and quality assurance.

In this chemical enginering degree, you’ll cover the application of chemical sciences, physics, and biological sciences and technology, to design and improve industrial processes such as water purification, food production and processing, or develop products such as cosmetics or pharmaceuticals.

The School of Health and Biomedical Sciences conducts research in the area of ageing and chronic disease, including:

• Dementia, depression and cognitive impairment in chronic disease
• Early-life determinants of chronic disease
• Hearing loss and tinnitus
• Postural balance and dizziness in the elderly
• Sleep disorders

You will undertake clinical or experimental research in one of these fields with an individual supervisor overseeing your development and progress.

The Master of Engineering (Manufacturing) explores sustainable engineering, Industry 4.0 technologies and biomedical manufacturing, and more.

Studying in the heart of Melbourne, you will build essential skills in project management, conduct research, and have the option to hone your engineering knowledge in a range of specialised elective subjects.

The Master of Biotechnology focuses on the study of living systems to address challenges in the environment, health or food science.

Students will explore gene and protein technologies, bioinformatics, and various microbiology and food science disciplines, both in the classroom and via a strong component of hands-on laboratory practicals.

This program includes an option to complete one semester of either work experience in the form of an industry placement, or a research project where you’ll complete minor thesis.

All students have the opportunity to analyse real-world data when they undertake a research project.
