In the award-winning Associate Degree in Design (Furniture Design), you will learn to make creative and original?furniture designs with a strong grounding in design methods, manufacturing technologies?and processes informed by cultural and social factors.

As a student of this degree, you will work on combining real-life industry projects and design theory with a hands-on focus on production to create sustainable contemporary modern furniture products. It teaches you to investigate contemporary, cultural and environmental aspects of professional furniture design practice.

You will gain the skills to explore design through real-world industry projects with highly-regarded design companies, and connect with Australian and international industry mentors who will work with you to provide feedback on the commercial viability of your design work.

As a graduate, you’ll have the opportunity to compete in local and international design competitions such as London Design Week, Fringe Design, Workshopped Design Show Australia, and VIVID (Décor + Design).

The Master of Design (Fashion and Textiles) by Research program enables you to develop an advanced body of knowledge that you may apply to a range of stimulating, real-life research contexts.

Individually supervised research programs are aligned to one of the School’s Centre for Materials Innovation and Future Fashion or the School’s research streams.

These research areas reflect the School’s research supervisors’ expertise along with the available resources and collaborative relationships with industry and other research organisations.

The Master of Design may be undertaken by project or by thesis mode:

• The project mode is directed towards candidates taking a creative practice-led approach to conduct research into fashion design, textile design, curatorial practice, communication, or interdisciplinary design.
• The thesis mode is directed towards candidates taking a social science approach to conduct research into an aspect of the fashion and textiles system such as design practice, curatorial practice, historical or contemporary cultural studies, enterprise or ethical practice.

This decision is made in consultation with your supervisor. You should discuss these program modes with your potential supervisor/s prior to your application.

With a focus on all aspects of screen and media production — not just standing behind the camera — one of the key features of this diploma is that in each semester you will write, produce, direct and edit screen content. This will help you to develop a strong skill set on work or further study upon graduation.

The Diploma of Screen and Media (Content Creation) provides you with skills-based training in a practical, hands-on environment. You will start your journey in the diploma and, upon successful completion, continue into the advanced diploma. 

You will develop skills and knowledge in key areas such as concept development, storytelling and all aspects of production. You will learn the importance of industry knowledge, collaboration, team building and professionalism.

On completion of the first year, you will transition to the Advanced Diploma of Screen and Media (Directing), which gives you the broad base necessary to move ahead in the screen, media, TV and film production industries. 

Graduates from this diploma will have the skills necessary to work in a variety of screen and media-based roles, ranging from cinematographers to scriptwriters.

The new interdisciplinary field of data science combines areas of computer science with mathematical statistics and domain expertise to manage and analyse data. Specialists develop the capability to derive insight and opportunity from the vast repositories of information that organisations collect. Data science also puts an emphasis on the specialised computational skills required to manage and analyse big data from sources such as social media, massive sensors, mobile and transaction data.

Through data science, businesses gain a competitive edge, governments deliver more targeted services, and research teams make new discoveries.

The Master of Engineering (Robotics and Mechatronics Engineering) prepares you to lead the introduction of new technologies and operating practices in advanced manufacturing and a range of other technical industries including robotics and mechanical systems design, mechatronics and micro- and nano-technology.

You'll study high-demand areas including:

• Advanced mechatronics system design
• Advanced control systems (including process control)
• Imaging systems
• Advanced robotic systems

There is a market demand for engineers with advanced skills such as control and robotics design and the ability to develop and implement new processes in agile manufacturing, ensuring innovations can emanate from all levels of the workforce.

Building on the capabilities you acquired at undergraduate degree level, you’ll design and develop a research project and complete a scholarly thesis as you undertake advanced coursework, which provides a firmer grounding in the field and in research methods.

You’ll develop skills to design, validate, and evaluate electronics and communication equipment as well as systems.

You’ll also be able to manage risk, estimate and manage projects, and provide technical and sales advice.

You will learn skills in programmable gate array technologies, circuit simulation, printed circuit board design, digital and analogue systems and applications, amplifiers, analogue integrated circuit design, communication systems, mobile phones, global positioning systems (GPS), microwave links, embedded controllers, AM/FM, computer programming, engineering software and project management, and computational solutions.

From basic production skills to sophisticated cross-media projects and strategic thinking about media industries, this two-year degree offers a variety of entry points depending on your previous qualifications and experience.

In the first year, you will be introduced to video, audio and internet media production. In the second year, you will explore complex cross-media projects and develop the sophisticated strategic and leadership skills required to be at the forefront of this evolving industry.

You will gain practical industry experience and learn about strategic planning through hands-on projects. This program has a global focus and there will be an opportunity to undertake various research projects with an international context.

RMIT's Bachelor of Applied Science (Aviation)/Bachelor of Business provides you with the capability to play a pivotal role in planning, implementing and managing aviation projects.

The aviation degree will prepare you for a career in a range of operational, management and planning roles in the aviation and associated industries. You'll develop breadth and depth of thinking, communication skills and the ability to solve problems in the aviation workplace.

The business degree will further enhance your understanding and skills, while preparing you to manage contemporary organisations within complex and changing economic and social conditions.

You have the flexibility to tailor this double degree to suit your interests and desired career path, with an extensive range of career focused subjects. Areas of study include aviation management, airport operations, aviation security, global business, finance and business management.

Use your advanced research skills to contribute to new developments in radiotherapy, diagnostic medical procedures and health physics.

This program is assessed by both a research project and the completion of five courses.

The research project is in medical or health physics, and is examined by thesis.

The coursework is vocationally relevant to radiotherapy, diagnostic imaging, radiation protection and health physics, and is available in online mode.

You will complete Research Methods for Sciences in your first semester. Four other courses will be undertaken in subsequent semesters.

The program is accredited by the Australasian College of Physical Scientists and Engineers in Medicine (ACPSEM) as an approved postgraduate qualification forming a compulsory component of the requirements to become a certified medical physicist.

Research activities are conducted within related research institutes and groups including the Applied Electromagnetics and Radiation Physics Research Group.

You will use state-of-the-art equipment and facilities including:

• Gel dosimetry
• Optical Tomography for 3D Dosimeters
• Anthropomorphic Phantoms
• Radiation Instrumentation Laboratory
• X-ray Microbeam Irradiator
