Industrial design links industry and economy with people, culture, society and environment, while mechanical engineering involves the conversion and control of energy and motion in machinery and systems.

This combined degree allows the integration of these highly complementary disciplines.

You’ll have the opportunity to design creative solutions through inspiring and sustainable design-and-build projects, as well as taking part in the Engineers Without Borders Challenge - a humanitarian-focused course offered in all RMIT engineering degrees.

Master of Applied Science in Health and Medical Physics

Use your advanced research skills to contribute to new developments in radiotherapy, diagnostic medical procedures and health physics.

This program is assessed by both a research project and the completion of five courses.

The research project is in medical or health physics, and is examined by thesis.

The coursework is vocationally relevant to radiotherapy, diagnostic imaging, radiation protection and health physics, and is available in online mode.

You will complete Research Methods for Sciences in your first semester. Four other courses will be undertaken in subsequent semesters.

The program is accredited by the Australasian College of Physical Scientists and Engineers in Medicine (ACPSEM) as an approved postgraduate qualification forming a compulsory component of the requirements to become a certified medical physicist.

Research activities are conducted within related research institutes and groups including the Applied Electromagnetics and Radiation Physics Research Group.

You will use state-of-the-art equipment and facilities including:

  • Brachytherapy Afterloader suite
  • Gel dosimetry
  • Optical Tomography for 3D Dosimeters
  • Anthropomorphic Phantoms

RMIT's Bachelor of Software Engineering will equip you with a solid foundation in computer science and maths, and develop deep expertise in software architecture, processes, methodologies and quality frameworks. 

The four-year degree, comprises of two years of study, followed by a one-year industry placement before the final year of study. The work placement provides a unique opportunity to develop your professional and technical skills while creating and extending your professional network.

Working within complex software development environments, operating systems, communications, web software, databases and applications, you'll undertake studies in all facets of the software engineering process.

Develop specialist knowledge in quantitative measurement and the evaluation of safe radiation exposure for patients and staff.

Medical physicists are employed in the fields of radiotherapy, medical imaging, nuclear medicine and associated research and regulatory divisions of non-hospital institutions.
You’ll develop the skills to critically evaluate and optimise the performance of medical equipment and procedures and use your problem-solving abilities to analyse outputs, diagnose problems and provide quality assurance for patient treatments.
