To ensure you’re work-ready, you will undertake a minimum 20-day work placement in your final semester. Engagement with the environmental sector is also embedded in a number of subjects and assessments, and your final year project offers a chance to explore your passions in a supported environment. 

You will have the opportunity to participate in global study tours, and can take advantage of RMIT’s expansive network of industry contacts in leading environmental agencies and organisations.

The School of Science's researchers have a demonstrated record of success in collaborations, funding and research publications.
You will work with researchers who are past and present winners of ARC Future Fellowships and DECRA’s, the AGR Matthey Gold medal for outstanding contribution in the field of applied gold chemistry, the RK Murphy Medal for Industrial Chemistry, the Silver Jubilee Medal of the Chromatographic Society, London, the CLRI Padmabhushan Dr Y Nayudamma Chemcon Distinguished Speaker Award (awarded by the Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers).

The majority of research staff are Members and Fellows of professional societies including: the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering, the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), UK, and the Royal Australian Chemical Institute (RACI).

In the 2015 Excellence in Research for Australia assessments we were ranked at ‘well above world standard’ for physical chemistry and ‘above world standard’ for analytical chemistry.

Acquire extensive knowledge in the fields of electronic, computer systems, communication and network engineering with the ability to manage teams of technical and professional staff.

RMIT's Bachelor of Engineering (Electronic and Computer Systems Engineering) (Honours) / Bachelor of Business will prepare you to become an engineering manager.

You will graduate from this degree ready to move into an engineering management role either relatively early in your career or after a period of experience as a professional engineer, rather than having to undertake further study.

The engineering degree will develop knowledge and skills that will enable you to find better solutions to challenges in the design, construction and maintenance of electronic hardware, embedded systems, firmware development, communication and network systems.

This could include the automation of electrical and electronic systems; audio and visual information acquisition, digital signal processing; human-machine interaction, industrial or medical instrumentation and monitoring; reconfigurable logic development; distributed computing and provision of security for computer systems and networks.

You will also learn to design and build devices and systems that transfer and store information via radio frequency or optical fibre transmissions, and manage and secure the flow of information through such systems.

Biomedical science courses allow you to understand how the human body functions, and the responses of the body to various diseases, exercise, diet, internal disturbances, and environmental influences.

You’ll learn how techniques in molecular biology and genetics are applied to diagnosing genes that cause cancer, making crops and livestock less vulnerable to disease, and making food safer.

RMIT's Bachelor of Space Science will develop critical skills in space science and technology, connecting the upstream (build/launch) and downstream (application of space-related products and services) industries.

There is no degree quite like this one in Australia. We lead the way in both space science and engineering research. We provide a unique mix of physics, engineering, geospatial science, mathematics, statistics, and specialised space studies. 

This degree encompasses multiple partnerships with national and international space companies and space agencies. Industry connections include Space Applications Services, Electro Optic Systems, Geoscience Australia and space agencies of countries around the world, such as USA (NASA), Japan, (JAXA), Europe (ESA) and Germany (DLR).

You will have access to state-of-the-art facilities including, the RMIT Optical Telescope, the SPACE Research Centre and the Virtual Experiences Laboratory, and the Space Industry Hub.
