RMIT's Bachelor of Engineering (Electronic and Computer Systems Engineering) (Honours) will enable you to find better solutions to challenges in the design, construction and maintenance of embedded systems, firmware development, electronic hardware, communication and network systems.

This could include the automation of electrical and electronic systems; audio and visual information acquisition, digital signal processing; human-machine interaction, industrial or medical instrumentation and monitoring; reconfigurable logic development; distributed computing and provision of security for computer systems and networks.

You will learn to design and build devices and systems that transfer and store information via radio frequency or optical fibre transmissions, and manage and secure the flow of information through such systems.

In consultation with your discipline honours coordinator and your supervisor, you'll be allocated a project to develop your skills to an advanced level.

Gain the skills you need to become a technician in laboratories in hospitals, research institutes, pharmaceutical companies, private pathology and testing laboratories.

In the Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques, you will be taught to apply your knowledge of living systems to solving important practical issues including controlling disease and making the environment safer.
Using the latest industry-standard equipment, you’ll build the knowledge and skills required to work under supervision to:

• Examine micro-organisms or changes in cells and tissues
• Perform analysis of pathology, environmental and chemical samples
• Assist with research into biochemical or genetic processes.

You will also benefit from the opportunity to gain hands-on experience. Upon completion of this certificate, you may go on to work in vaccine production, food and materials testing, pathology, or research. Alternatively, you might prefer to pursue the Diploma of Laboratory Technology, or other further study of your choice.

In the Advanced Diploma of Engineering Technology - Electrical, you'll learn to design, validate, and evaluate electrical equipment and systems, as well as provide technical advice and sales.

Electrical engineers design and maintain electrical systems to improve the production and distribution of energy. As our society increasingly depends on electrical and electronic devices, electrical engineers are in high demand.

In your career as an electrical engineer, you will design and maintain electrical systems in areas like aerospace, power utilities, mining, oil and gas, wind and solar food and beverages, pharmaceuticals, data centres, transport and logistics, and many others.
