Digital Media is reshaping modern communication. New platforms and technologies have resulted in new consumption patterns and management, and new mediums mean new ways of communicating to different audiences.  The Digital Media major allows you to develop critical knowledge of how technology has transformed communication, as well as delivering practical skills for how to plan and produce digital media projects. You will learn how to write for digital audiences, analyse and plan social media strategy, produce video and audio content, like podcasts – and pull them all together in multimedia content packages.  

In this major you will be taught by experienced media professionals, but also take a cross-section of digital business subjects to help explore how your digital skills can be applied in modern workplaces. In this major you will develop a critical understanding of the evolution of Greek culture in its original homeland and the diaspora, including multicultural Australia. Melbourne’s large Greek community provides you with a stimulating cultural and social environment in which to observe and practice what you learn. You can pair language subjects at a variety of levels with cultural subjects focussed on ancient and modern Greek literature, history and society. The skills obtained in this major will prepare you for a variety of work including teaching, translating, interpreting, health, banking, tourism, and related industries in Australia and overseas. A History major gives you the tools to understand how the world got to where it is today, and to examine how social, political and cultural change could happen in the future. In this major you are taken from the ancient world of myth through to the present day, and are offered a range of geographical perspectives from Australia, Europe, the US, Latin America and Asia. You will address key themes such as the nature of the historical imagination, the rise and decline of empires, mass migration, human rights and environmental sustainability.

You can choose to explore topics as different as the history of food, the history of sexuality, Aboriginal history, religion and fundamentalism, slavery and human trafficking, genocides and the Holocaust, civil rights, and the history of the environment. You'll learn traditional approaches to historical research, engage with visual and popular culture, and gain mixed media skills to produce new histories for the 21st century.

The Hindi studies major introduces you to one of the most widely spoken languages in the world—a language with around half a billion speakers, the language of Bollywood cinema, and one of the fastest growing languages in Australia. Hindi is the ideal subject for students who want to study Indian culture, religion, media or politics. Hindi also gives you access to the larger linguistic world of South Asia, including competence in Urdu. Knowledge of Hindi is welcome in many professional fields, including media, diplomacy, and healthcare. India is Australia’s 5th largest trading partner, and one of the world’s fastest growing economies, making Hindi crucial for international trade and business. Opportunities are available for you to study in India, where you take courses on Indian politics, society, and history, as well as improve your language skills. Students with no prior knowledge of the language should enrol in beginners Hindi, where they develop competence in speaking, reading, writing and understanding Hindi in everyday social contexts. Learn about the structure and history of languages, while examining how communication skills are acquired and developed.
