The Bachelor of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) is a professional course that will provide you with solid skills and a knowledge base in ICT.
It will provide you with the skills to apply practical solutions to ICT including systems analysis and design, application development, program design, networks, web development and the implementation of technology.

Software Development (Major)
In this major, students learn how to create high quality software to meet client needs. This involves applying the theories and practices of software development to determine requirements, design and deliver solutions. In this software development lifecycle process, students use a range of technologies, and programming skills used for the development of software systems and distributed applications. In addition, students develop the ability to identify, analyse, and formulate solutions to real-world problems in the software development domain. In devising these solutions students also consider principles associated with user interface design, professional and ethical issues, in particular those relating to security and privacy of user data and user behaviour related to software development and associated applications.

In business, accounting knowledge is essential as all managers and executives must understand the importance and significance of accounting reports.

The Bachelor of Accounting will provide you with an in-depth knowledge of accounting, supported by the associated disciplines of law, economics, finance and statistics. The degree is unique in its scope and coverage offering a qualification in accounting and the opportunity to broaden your knowledge base with elective subjects from other disciplines.

Information Systems are becoming integral to modern culture and are a primary engine behind much of the world’s economic and social change. Today, to implement technology, practising professionals need to understand the context in which computer technology can best be selected, applied and implemented.

Networking (Major)
The Networking major provides in-depth knowledge for the analysis, design, and implementation of networked systems. You will develop the technical skills needed for the management and secure operation of a broad range of systems, including LANs, WANs, wireless networks, distributed systems, and large heterogeneous networks.

Information and Communications Technology (ICT) has penetrated into all areas of industry sectors, such as retail, banking, health and education. ICT professionals are required to have cross disciplinary knowledge and skills, while the speed of change in ICT requires professionals to update their knowledge and skills every few years. Networking (Major)
The Networking major is aimed at providing students with knowledge in emerging areas of networking. It focuses on essential fundamentals as well as advanced knowledge on the principles, practices, protocols and standards in some key areas of the networking discipline. This major prepares students for careers in network security and management, multimedia and wireless communications, and other contemporary and emerging networking areas. The major is also designed to introduce students to trends and key research areas in some emerging fields in networking so as to provide students with initial skills and knowledge for future research studies or careers.

Work integrated learning
Students will undertake 120 hours fulltime or part-time equivalent industry placements as a Work Integrated Learning (WIL) component which is required for successful completion of the course. You will work in an external organisation in Australia or within a department/division within Western Sydney University carrying out tasks related to ICT. This will provide you with real-world industry experience in Australia. Students can nominate an external organisation of their choice. Students with substantial post-qualification work experience in Australia maybe eligible for advanced standing for this unit.

The Bachelor of Communication program covers all areas of creative communication, enabling you to understand how your field of study is connected to other disciplines. Public Relations (Major)

The Professional Careers Subjects will help to shape your career in one of three core business areas: Money, Markets or Management. International Business (Major)
The International Business major equips graduates with detailed knowledge of the international dimension of business and the necessary understanding of the workings of the market system. Building on a solid foundation in domestic business education, including global sustainability, international business strategy, managing in a global environment, and international marketing. The major enables graduates to develop an understanding of business internationally and to exploit business opportunities within the corporate context.

The Bachelor of Engineering Science is offered as an entry program to a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours). It is also offered as a three-year exit course for the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours).

The course structure, core subjects and electives are similar to the first three years of the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) course. The Bachelor of Engineering Science is offered with key programs in Civil, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineering.

Electrical Engineering (Major)
The Electrical program covers electronic components, electromagnets, computers, power generation, distribution systems, communications and control.
