You will investigate and gain practical experience in the structural integrity of materials used in buildings, bridges, dams, tunnels, roads, pavements and other structures when exposed to natural phenomena or hostile environments.

The typical two-year program, sitting within the UNSW School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, comprises 16 courses and features complex, open-ended enquiry-based projects as well as many other opportunities to help you become a leader in the field.

The program offers advanced disciplinary knowledge courses in the likes of structural stability, pre-stressed and reinforced concrete design, bridge engineering, advanced materials technology and computational structural mechanics.

finance Specialisation

Finance is all about managing financial resources and making strategic decisions in the face of uncertainty. It looks at how businesses raise capital, how people distribute savings and investments, and organisational policies and decisions.

This degree intertwines mechanical engineering, control engineering and software development, specifically for controlling sophisticated smart machines.

Mechatronic engineers work across all aspects of smart machines – from design and testing through to manufacture in industries such as robotics, medical and assistive technology, human-machine interaction, manufacturing, unmanned aerial and ground vehicles and education.

Through your study at UNSW Engineering, you’ll develop hybrid skills in mechanics, electronics and computing. The UNSW Master of Engineering Science in Biomedical Engineering is a two-year full-time postgraduate degree offered by the School of Biomedical Engineering. You’ll gain the expertise to work in influential areas related to human health, like biomechanics, medical device design, drug-delivery systems, radiotherapies, telemedicine, robotics, and cell and tissue engineering.  

The Master of Engineering Science (Biomedical Engineering) is designed for graduate engineers. As part of a globally renowned engineering faculty, you’ll learn to apply your knowledge of engineering to drive solutions that support human health.  

The program is designed for students who already have an accredited engineering degree and want to shift their career towards biomedical engineering. You’ll choose up to four courses from relevant disciplines such as electrical, chemical and mechanical engineering, as well as two foundation courses in the subject area.
