Communication & journalism
Telling stories effectively, ethically, and powerfully—whether on a page, on a screen, or in a VR environment—is at the heart of studying communications and journalism at UNSW.

This double degree gives you statistical analysis skills to make better decisions in business and government policy, combined with critical skills in technology, mathematics and engineering. This degree is designed for students who are passionate about both the Law and Science, and are interested in learning about the connection between the two.

The Law degree aims to develop graduates who have excellent analytical skills, a capacity for scholarly research, effective oral and written communication skills, and a commitment to personal and professional development, ethical practice and social responsibility. In addition to developing critical and analytical skills, Law students can gain real-world perspective by undertaking an internship and practical legal experience in our community legal centre. The Master of Public Health is widely recognised as essential for a career in population health, including health promotion, primary health care, policy formulation, research and management of health programs. You will extend your knowledge and skills in public health research by undertaking an advanced research project.

This Master of Public Health (Extension) degree will give you a sophisticated understanding across the complex body of multidisciplinary knowledge of public health including epidemiology, biostatistics, social determinants of health, health promotion, population research methodologies, and health program design, implementation and evaluation. You will be perfectly positioned to pursue a PhD in Public Health to further advance your career in public health research.

Medical science is the foundation that the practice of medicine is built on. This degree delves into how the human body functions and responds to disease and drug treatments. It incorporates facets of several scientific disciplines to provide you with an extensive understanding of the human body.

The Bachelor of Medical Science explores:

• The general processes leading to disease (pathology)
• The role of bacteria, viruses and other micro-organisms in disease (microbiology)

• The way in which our form and function is inherited (genetics)

• The natural defences of the body (immunology)
• The structure and function of the brain (neuroscience).

Neurobiology

Explore the biological aspects of the nervous system. The nervous system includes the:

• Central nervous system (brain and spinal cord)
• Peripheral nervous system (nerves in limbs, muscles and organs).

This major is based around the neuroscience courses offered by the anatomy, physiology and pharmacology departments at UNSW.

This double degree enables students to gain skills and knowledge in the technical field of Computer Science as well as in a variety of subjects in Humanities and Social Sciences.

The Computer Science component emphasises comprehension of the basic principles behind computing tools, operating systems, compilers and translators, and computer hardware. You'll study the representation of data and data structures and the design of algorithms, as well as the creation of hardware and software tools and the role of non-computing elements in the design and development process.
