The UNSW Master of Interpreting is a 1.7 year full-time postgraduate degree that gives you practical experience in professional settings, alongside skills and theoretical foundations based on current research. This double degree is designed for students who want to pursue a career in biomedical engineering through the technical base of materials science and engineering. It focuses on the development, processing and application of materials used in many areas of biomedical engineering.

A biomedical engineer can look at a medical problem and analyse it in engineering terms to find a solution. Materials science is the underlying science of high-performance materials such as metals, ceramics, polymers and composites.

You'll learn theoretical and practical skills that will put you at the forefront of innovation in developing systems to maintain and enhance life, as well as how to design body parts or tissues, develop artificial organs, improve robotic surgery, invent health technologies and more. It involves a four-year Bachelor of Engineering in Materials Science (Honours) and a Master of Biomedical Engineering in the fifth year.

Media Studies (Major)

Do you currently work in the underground hard rock or coal mining industry, in the field of strata control? Or is this an area you'd like to progress into? The Master of Mine Geotechnical Engineering is the postgraduate degree for you.

You'll receive a foundational education in fundamental principles of rock mechanics and geotechnical engineering, as well as practical strata control applications. This degree teaches you practical knowledge to become a mine strata control engineer.

This degree is designed for professionals working at mine sites and are offered in a flexible delivery format; many are available in distance mode with a limited number of face-to-face workshops/sessions. Assessments include practical site-based assignments, group work, interactive work and presentations.

Note: Some electives may be offered only every two years and international students are not eligible to enrol on a student visa
