Computer Science is the study of the design, construction and use of computer systems. The Bachelor of Science (Honours) program in Computer Science and Engineering is a 1 year full-time or 2 year part-time award undertaken by eligible students after completion of a 3 year Bachelor of Science program in a relevant discipline and offers students an opportunity to deepen their understanding of the discipline through the completion of advanced coursework and a research thesis.

Criminal Justice and Criminology

The Criminal Justice and Criminology specialisation in the Master of Laws will provide you with advanced interdisciplinary knowledge and skills to research and analyse current debates, emerging problems, and new criminal law and criminal justice developments. The specialisation draws on the recognised expertise of UNSW in research and teaching of criminal justice and criminology, criminal law and procedure. The Computer Science component emphasises comprehension of the basic principles behind computing tools, operating systems, compilers and translators, and computer hardware. You’ll study the representation of data and data structures and the design of algorithms, as well as the creation of hardware and software tools and the role of non-computing elements in the design and development process.

Environmental Law and Sustainable Development
Environmental protection and the quest for sustainable development that can meet the needs of both present and future generations have become pressing common concerns at the national and the international level. In past decades, national and international law has developed a wide range of sector-specific and creative cross-cutting approaches to respond to these challenges. 

This Master of Laws specialisation will provide you with a strong theoretical and practical understanding of the environmental legal system, the frameworks of and tools for sustainable environmental management, and the complex policy issues presented by the environmental challenges of the 21st century. Environmental law encompasses a wide and diverse range of issues: energy, climate change, biodiversity conservation, water and oceans, agriculture, finance and international development, but also (and especially in Australia, as one of the world’s most urban nations) issues like city planning, commons, platform and sharing economies, transport, housing and corporate social responsibility. 

You'll acquire the skills and understanding needed to address the ‘wicked problems’ posed by environmental sustainability challenges and be equipped to pursue a career in environmental law and environmental policy.
