The Bachelor of Laws (Honours) program is designed for high achieving law students who wish to undertake an extended level of study and research. There is no direct entry into the Honours program. Students will engage in collaborative face-to-face problem and case-based learning, will be supported by online learning materials, and will participate in authentic assessment to develop knowledge and skills. The program provides students with a broad progressive legal education with a strong practical orientation to the law. Students develop skills in problem-solving, critical thinking, research, communication, collaboration, self-management, and ethical and professional awareness and judgement. Students will have the opportunity to develop skills in legal advocacy, negotiation, and legal technology and extend their professional and learning experiences through work integrated learning, clinical placement and international exchange engagements.

This double degree will enable you to be multi-skilled in communications and law, giving you increased marketability across diverse career paths. The Bachelor of Communication encompasses a wide range of subjects in the field of communication and media. Teaching includes both theory and practice with reference to real world contexts highlighting future career opportunities in a convergent digital media world.

Advertising

The Advertising major gives students a thorough grounding in general principles of communication as well as practical skills in advertising.

The major offers a balance of advertising theory and practice and focuses on real, project-based outcomes.

Areas of study include advertising strategy, advertising creative and art direction, client and account management, digital and social media contexts, advertising campaigns.

Business Analytics

Generating and communicating information and insight from increasingly diverse and growing sources of data for business decision-making is a crucial asset for any organisation. Starting with a framework for applying the tools of business analytics, this major develops a blend of skills from mathematics, statistics and computing. Students will acquire knowledge and understanding in the continually developing areas of artificial intelligence, data visualisation and applications of big data.

This program is designed for high achieving law students in the Bachelor of Criminal and Community Justice/ Bachelor of Laws program who wish to undertake an extended level of study and research in Law.

The Bachelor of Criminal and Community Justice degree is designed for current employees within Corrective Services, as well as students who wish to pursue a career in corrections, probation or parole. The degree will draw upon disciplinary areas such as Criminal Justice, Criminology, Psychology, Social Work and Welfare in order to provide a theoretical framework for those who work with offenders and on issues of rehabilitation, through-care and resettlement.

As well as providing a theoretical framework, the program will provide those who complete the degree with the knowledge and skills to develop and evaluate practice with a view to enhancing working with offenders. The Bachelor of Criminal and Community Justice can be described as an ‘applied degree pathway’ insofar as the teaching within the program will link theory to practice. It is important to note that this degree does not guarantee direct employment into Corrections Services.

The Bachelor of Communication encompasses a wide range of subjects in the field of communication and media with a core program of media studies, practices and theory, and specialised major sequences in advertising, journalism, public relations and media arts production.

Public Affairs

The Public Relations major covers the skills and knowledge required in the profession of public relations, including event management, issues and crisis management and campaign development.

The major focuses on the role of the public relations practitioner or adviser and provides a theoretical framework of the industry. Students engage with both theory and practical projects and complete an internship placement.

The Bachelor of Accounting holds triple accreditation with CPA (Certified Public Accountant) Australia, Chartered Accountants Australia & New Zealand (CAANZ), and the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA). Depending on your majors, you’ll also be eligible to become a member of the Financial Planning Association or register with the Tax Practitioners Board as a tax agent.

Financial Planning and Taxation

The Financial Planning and Taxation Major is available to participants enrolled in the Bachelor of Accounting. The specialised subjects in this major analyse contemporary issues relevant to financial planning and taxation using case studies and discussion.

The subjects is designed to meet the requirements for admission to the CFP program of the Financial Planning Association (FPA) for those seeking a career in that profession.

This major satisfies the accreditation requirements of the Financial Planning Association (FPA). Completion of this major also meets the RG146 generic knowledge requirements, specialist knowledge requirements and skills requirements as they currently stand.

Applied Physics

This major provides a deep knowledge of physics and its applications. While also developing a grounding in mathematics and strong computing knowledge, the physics major assures understanding of the concepts, tools and techniques of physics including the interfaces where physics contributes to other scientific disciplines, and the use of physics in wider intellectual and social contexts.

Graduates of this degree can look forward to career opportunities as a medical laboratory scientist, forensic scientist, in government and related industries, in scientific and technical management or can pursue a research or secondary teaching career.

This Bachelor of Science asks questions about how the natural world works and the impact of humans at its interface. A Bachelor of Science will prepare you to take part in this process of inquiry, by both contributing to it and by using scientific knowledge to solve current problems in broad settings.

On-campus animal facilities include those for reptiles, small marsupials and rodents, sheep and cattle, as well as over 1000ha of native, rural and aquatic habitats. This major will enable students to graduate with practical laboratory and fieldwork skills that will prepare you across a wide variety of disciplines in this field.

Graduates of this degree can look forward to career opportunities as a zoologist, in animal nutrition, in reproduction technology, genetics, behaviour and health, product development and physiology, scientific officer and science communicator. Other opportunities include pursuing postgraduate research study.
