Western's Bachelor of Occupational Therapy is an accredited program that prepares graduates for this highly regarded field. The first two years of the program combine studies in occupational therapy with a broad understanding of biomedicine, and various health science fields, to develop the professional competencies important for ethical and safe practice. The final two years focus predominately on occupational therapy practice skills, practical experience and specialised areas. This program offers the flexibility of an honours stream for high performing students, as well as an early exit option, allowing students to graduate with a Bachelor of Health Science after three years. To meet the fieldwork guidelines of the World Federation of Occupational Therapists, you’ll benefit from hands-on experience and 1,000 hours in a professional practice.

Sport Management

The Sport Management major is designed for people who seek careers in Australian and international Sport management. Specialist units provide students with a capacity to understand and function within the increasingly dedicated context in which sport is played, organised and managed. Students who complete this major will be equipped with the skills and knowledge to manage sport experiences pertaining to globalisation and emerging contemporary issues in sport. Entertainment Computing

This major will deal with a comprehensive focus on the technical and theoretical knowledge of design, development and deployment of software applications in the field of Entertainment Computing.

This double degree program allows you to span both the legal and scientific worlds. This Bachelor of Science asks questions about how the natural world works and the impact of humans at its interface. It does so in a systematic, yet rigorously creative way based on inquiry and evidence. Animals Science

Interactions between people and animals are increasing due to our reliance on animals for companionship and food production. This major will enable you to develop a deep understanding of these issues, through studies of animal behaviour, animal health and welfare, animal nutrition, animal production, animal reproduction, and human-animal interactions. You will have access to diverse on-campus animal facilities including reptiles, native mammals, sheep, cattle and deer and off-campus organisations such as wildlife parks, zoos and farms.

Our Bachelor of Health Science combines study with hands-on experience and allows you to major in one or two specialisations in the areas of health promotion, health services management, recreational therapy, clinical sciences and public health. Mobile Computing

This major covers theories and technologies used for the development of distributed applications for hand-held mobile devices. Students completing this major will understand the advanced principles related to mobile hardware devices, data storage and transmission, and communication networks. In addition they will identify, analyse, and formulate solutions to real-world problems in the mobile domain. In devising these solutions students will also consider principles associated with user interface design, professional and ethical issues, in particular those relating to security and privacy of user data and user behaviour related to mobile devices and its applications.

Construction Management Studies at Western mixes work experience with study resulting in theoretical, practical and hands-on knowledge that is greatly valued in the construction industry. Your studies will include practical experiments in building technology such as acoustics, heat flow through a building, corrosion of materials, concerete testing and more.

The skills you develop will then be used during your 1,200 hours of approved practical experience during the duration of the program.
