Marketing

Through an in-depth understanding of the marketing field including the challenges of global forces, new technologies and changing customer demographics, students develop practical skills that contribute to improving organisational performance. The major is based on industry expectations and students work on industry-based projects and case studies equipping them to take on roles across numerous organisations including in digital marketing, campaign strategies, business and data analytics.

The marketing major shifts the focus from siloed factory-model approach found in typical marketing programs to one that is customer-centric, integrated, immersive and experiential. Unlike many other marketing majors, this new program embeds digital applications throughout.

This major satisfies the educational requirements for recognition as a Certified Practising Marketer and eligibility for student membership of the Australian Marketing Institute and The Research Society.

Biology

This major provides students with a broad knowledge base of biology from the molecular world to global ecosystem science with a focus on the sustainability of the natural world. The major allows students to use the learning beside a range of other diverse majors and is especially applicable to students who are considering teaching as a career. Students will have the opportunity to develop discipline knowledge alongside scientific laboratory and inquiry based skills. Graduates of this degree can look forward to career opportunities as a laboratory scientist, research scientist, in government and related industries or can progress into pursuing a research career or a career in secondary teaching.

This double degree program allows you to span both the legal and scientific worlds. This Bachelor of Science asks questions about how the natural world works and the impact of humans at its interface. The Bachelor of Laws program satisfies the academic degree requirements for admission to practice as an Australian lawyer. Zoology

This major will provide students with a detailed understanding of the diversity of the animal kingdom. Students will develop a scientific understanding of how animals function and interact with their environment; from their ecology, behaviour and evolution; to the physiology and biochemistry of cells, tissues and major organ systems. On-campus animal facilities include those for reptiles, small marsupials and rodents, sheep and cattle, as well as over 1000ha of native, rural and aquatic habitats. This major will enable students to graduate with practical laboratory and fieldwork skills that will prepare you across a wide variety of disciplines in this field.

Graduates of this degree can look forward to career opportunities as a zoologist, in animal nutrition, in reproduction technology, genetics, behaviour and health, product development and physiology, scientific officer and science communicator. Other opportunities include pursuing postgraduate research study.

The Bachelor of Laws (Honours) program satisfies the academic degree requirements for admission to practice as an Australian lawyer. Students will engage in collaborative face-to-face problem and case-based learning, will be supported by online learning materials, and will participate in authentic assessment to develop knowledge and skills. The program provides students with a broad progressive legal education with a strong practical orientation to the law. Students develop skills in problem-solving, critical thinking, research, communication, collaboration, self-management, and ethical and professional awareness and judgement. Students will have the opportunity to develop skills in legal advocacy, negotiation, and legal technology and extend their professional and learning experiences through work integrated learning, clinical placement and international exchange engagements.

Human Resource Management

The Human Resource Management Major is designed for people who seek careers in human resource management and industrial relations.

Graduates’ careers focus on enhancing the value of human and social capital through supporting employee engagement for many different kinds of organisations, market-oriented and community-oriented organisations and many kinds of people.

Immersed in an approach that integrates social, economic and environmental values, students will view plant and animal production from consumer contexts to explore personal and community perceptions about food sustainability. The air we breathe, the water we drink, the food we eat, and the places we live, work and play all have major impacts on our health and well-being. The testamur major Environmental Health, when combined with the major Environmental Futures in a Bachelor of Science, will equip you to explore the diverse range of natural and built-environment challenges that confront us, from the mitigation of human health impacts of global climate change through to the more localised issues of air and water quality, waste management, food security, environmental noise and healthy communities. The major areas of study addressed within the major include air pollution; community studies; emergency management; environmental regulation and policy; environmental monitoring; environmental planning; environmental protection; epidemiology; food safety; noise, occupational environment; risk assessment; sustainable environmental management; toxicology; urban development and water pollution.

The Bachelor of Laws (Non-Graduate Entry) program satisfies the academic degree requirements for admission to practice as an Australian lawyer. Students will engage in collaborative face-to-face problem and case-based learning, will be supported by online learning materials, and will participate in authentic assessment to develop knowledge and skills.

The Bachelor of Laws (Non-Graduate Entry) provides students with a broad progressive legal education with a strong practical orientation to the law. Students develop skills in problem-solving, critical thinking, research, communication, collaboration, self-management, and ethical and professional awareness and judgement. Students will also develop skills in legal advocacy, negotiation, and legal technology and extend their professional and learning experiences through work integrated learning, clinical placement and international exchange engagements. Students are further supported to broaden their academic interest and to extend their career options by undertaking an additional year of non-law study in an academic area or areas of their own choice.

This program is designed to equip you with the required knowledge and skills for legal practice. You will graduate with the ability to analyse legal material and understand fundamental legal principles. You will also gain an understanding of the relationship between law and society and undertake specialised study into the Australian legal system.

Even if you are not seeking to practise as a lawyer, your learning will be enriched by exposure to the ethos and practice of law.

The Honours program is available to high achieving students in the Bachelor of Podiatric Medicine. 

Podiatrists are best known for treating problems that people commonly experience with their feet, but they are increasingly playing an important role in addressing chronic conditions, such as diabetes. 

Honours is a key early step in the path to leadership in the profession and opens up the world of research, without taking any longer to complete the degree. The honours program encourages independent learning, develops research skills and provides an opportunity for deeper investigation in the major field of study.
As a high achieving student you may apply for entry into the Honours program in year 3 of your Bachelor degree. You then begin advanced research training in the latter half of year 3. Clinical placements and an honours thesis are completed during the fourth year of the program.

The thesis presents research that addresses real podiatric problems and education across the lifespan. This research will be conducted under the supervision of experienced academic researchers.

The Bachelor of Medical Science prepares you for a career in a range of laboratory roles, as well as providing an avenue for further study including graduate research programs.

Anatomy and Physiology

The Anatomy and Physiology Major within the Bachelor of Medical Science will provide you with the opportunity to learn about the basic sciences underpinning human health, wellbeing and its application to human disease. This major provides a strong focus on the anatomy and physiology of the human body in relation to health and disease. The degree also allows for enrolment in a variety of minors (with choices such as Microbiology, Environmental Health and Infectious Diseases) or free electives, so students can design their own learning journey. This major will provide you with the core knowledge in human anatomy and physiology and will allow you unlimited options of employment in areas such as academia, government, research, health and have you well prepared for further postgraduate studies in any medical and health related fields including but not limited to physiotherapy, radiology, sonography, paramedicine or medicine.
