Materials

Since the dawning of mankind an understanding of how materials can be obtained and used has been critical to successful human endeavour. Materials engineers are concerned with the highly technological and dynamic process of understanding, developing, and applying materials (metals, polymers, ceramics, composites) to a range of engineering problems. Students will develop skills necessary to synthesise relevant information so that they can be effective decision makers in a materials context. These skills will serve them well in varied career opportunities associated with biomedical devices, nanotechnology, advanced manufacturing, opto-electronics, energy, aerospace, and sustainable construction.

Our Design and Technology degree delivers a sound knowledge of design from both a theoretical and a practical standpoint.

This program can lead to multiple career outcomes, including product design, packaging, rapid prototyping, 3D modelling, exhibition design and secondary school teaching (with additional degrees). You will gain a comprehensive knowledge of all design areas, but also the flexibility to specialise.

Design Led Innovation

Dive deep into marketing theory and gain skills in creating in a design led environment. Students will learn about human behaviour and how it applies to brand and product marketing.

This program aims to equip students with knowledge of the theoretical aspects that underpin interpreting and translation, including linguistics, and with the research techniques necessary to conduct a small research project in the area of interpreting and translation.

It also focuses on practical interpreting and translation skills. The program is suitable for practising interpreters and translators and for very proficient bilinguals wanting to develop or improve their skills, and who wish to contribute to the body of knowledge on interpreting and translation by conducting innovative, much needed research.

The Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) program is designed for students with interests in learning to address humanity’s issues and challenges through the development and deployment of technical solutions.

This program spans all major engineering domains and prioritises industry relevance via an emphasis on work integrated learning to ensure students are career-ready on graduation. Robotics and Mechatronic engineering combines electrical, computing and mechanical engineering and is at the forefront in designing smart machines and systems, such as pilotless spacecraft, car cruise control, automated factories and medical telerobotics. Civil engineering covers the fields of structural design, geotechnical engineering and water engineering, together with infrastructure design and environmental engineering. Graduates will work in the fields of design, construction and management of engineering structures. Projects may cover residential and commercial buildings, highways and airports, water supply and sewerage schemes, etc. You may be an engineer in private industry, government departments, or in city, municipal or shire councils.

The Electrical Engineering major includes core subjects from all branches of electrical engineering. Mechatronics

Mechatronics (and robotics) provides the skills necessary for the design of smart machines of all types: cruise control in automobiles, pilotless spacecraft, automated factories and medical telerobotics. The program, accompanied by an extensive and integrated hands-on laboratory program, is essentially concerned with the design of intelligent mechanical systems and automation, and includes the study of robotics, computer control, automated manufacturing, microprocessor applications and machine design. Graduates in the program acquire the combined skills of mechanical and computer/electrical engineering that are needed in leading-edge industries such as aerospace systems, the car industry, automation and robotic applications, biomedical engineering, laser systems, and building materials manufacture.
