The two-year Financial Services-Canadian Context Ontario College Graduate Certificate program is specifically designed to support students transitioning into the Canadian work environment in the customer sales and service areas of:

• Banking
• Insurance
• Financial planning
• Wealth management

In this program, you build knowledge and skills to evaluate and recommend financial products and services based on clients` individual needs. You develop techniques to collect and analyze client information to create and present customized financial plans. Sales strategies and relationship building techniques are applied while adhering to legal and ethical practices and industry standards. Throughout the program, you develop a professional competencies portfolio to document marketable skills. The fourth semester of the program focuses on experiential learning within a variety of real-world scenarios.

Through experiential and simulated workplace learning, you develop financial advising strategies to facilitate clients` short- and long-term financial goals. Topics include:

• Saving and borrowing for major purchases
• Postsecondary education and retirement planning
• Insurance for wealth protection
• Investing for diversification, growth and tax efficiency
• Estate planning for succession and wealth transfer

Graduates are eligible to write the Canadian Securities Course designation exams. Algonquin College collaborates with the Canadian Securities Institute (CSI) and the Canadian Institute of Financial Planning (CIFP) to offer the Financial Services Graduate Certificate Program, which meets FP Canada`s Core and Advanced Curriculum educational requirements. The program provides a pathway to the following designations upon completion of their additional requirements and exams:

Explore all aspects of the television and streaming video production process in the two-year Broadcasting – Television Ontario College Diploma program. This program prepares you with a diverse set of skills applicable to working in the creative media industries. Learn to produce television and video for news, sports, esports live events, factual entertainment and film. Focus your education on the area of production that you are passionate about through a personalized capstone project and field placement in industry.

Develop your technical, operational, and editorial skills, in the studio and field, to enhance your storytelling competencies. You gain an understanding of the technical and creative sides of television and streaming production as well as cinematography, motion graphics and post-production processes. Learn the critical skills required to produce content for television, video and streaming media platforms using the equipment used by industry professionals. In the first level of the program, you study alongside Journalism and Broadcasting – Radio students, building a strong foundation in transferable media skills while exploring these related fields. In this program, you are given the opportunity to work on interprofessional teams with other media programs. In the second year, you choose projects and elective courses that align with your interests. You also work on a personalized capstone project to develop skills for the segment of the industry you are passionate about.

The one-year International Business Management Ontario College Graduate Certificate program prepares you for a rewarding career involving international business management. This program offers an in-depth understanding of versatile international management skills and knowledge. You help meet the need for trained professionals who can work with the increasing volume of cross-border traffic around the globe.

This program`s courses are scheduled to accommodate professionals who have to balance work and school. Faculty consists of experts who are dedicated to preparing you for a high level of career success. Take a hands-on approach, learning to investigate, analyze and manage domestic and international business activities. As well, learn to identify international partners and develop global networks. Completion of this program provides you with an Ontario College Certificate in General Arts and Science - One Year, with a concentration in Pre-Trades. The goal of the program is to prepare you for further study and success in other trade programs, rather than enabling you to move directly into your chosen industry.

When entering the workforce, you can demonstrate that you have well-developed skills and a general understanding in a variety of topics. Completion of this certificate confirms to potential employers that you have the ability to learn at a post-secondary level.

In this program, you build on your pre-existing business skills, financial knowledge and professional experience. You are introduced to financial products and services and financial advising. You learn how to create and present financial plans. As well, you practise collecting and analyzing client information and providing financial advice based on that information.

You also participate in work-integrated learning. This gives you the opportunity to practise your skills and knowledge in a realistic financial services workplace context.

Algonquin College partners with The Canadian Securities Institute (CSI) to offer the Financial Services Graduate Certificate program, which is an approved educational path to Personal Financial Planner®(PFP®) designation and prepares you to write the Applied Financial Planning Certification examination, which is necessary to obtain the PFP® designation.

The Digital Health Ontario College Graduate Certificate program helps you understand the ever-changing realities of the healthcare system, shifting towards a digital health ecosystem. This program provides you with the skills to lead and implement projects and contribute to their effectiveness and ultimately, to patient safety.

Through online, in-class and simulation activities, you gain both theoretical and practical knowledge. Your experience is also enhanced through exposure to broad information technology contexts in health care. The one-year Victimology Ontario College Graduate Certificate program prepares you for work in a variety of fields, providing services to victims of crime. This one-year program provides specialized knowledge and skills in victimology and in the provision of victim services. You also explore the history and theories of victimization, with applied victim-centred focus.

Combining theoretical and applied learning, it includes a field placement of more than 140 hours. It is in this setting where you learn about victims` issues and perspectives first-hand from experts in the field.

Learn to move a project along its lifecycle phases through the application of concepts, strategies and best practices. Get hands-on project experience via a work integrated learning opportunity, which serves as a vehicle for incorporating and applying skills obtained during the academic studies and providing an opportunity to handle real-life situations.
