You will be connected to a lucrative career with this nine-month Construction Electrician program. With both classroom and shop components, this is one of Assiniboine’s most popular programs.

This entry-level program will take you from electrical safety and general code to advanced electrical skills in wiring and blueprint reading. Your industry-based practicum will emphasize practical applied learning, making you ready for real-world electrical problems you can solve. You and your fellow graduates will build careers with electrical contractors, construction companies, maintenance departments of industrial companies, public utilities and wholesale suppliers.

Register as an apprentice within two years of finishing the program, and you may get in-school training credit for Level 1 Construction Electrician apprenticeship, Level 1 Industrial Electrician apprenticeship or Level 1 Power Electrician apprenticeship

Create powerful messages through audio or visual productions, and develop your passion for television or radio environments. Learn how to communicate compelling stories within any audiovisual production role.

Looking for a creative outlet? The Interactive Media Arts two-year diploma program is your chance to indulge your creativity and excel in a hands-on career in television, radio or film. Our experienced instructors push you to develop your narrative craft, tackle news reporting, and master technical skills in audio, video and multimedia to broaden your mind and prepare you for the workforce.

Hone your craft across a wide range of audiovisual environments. The media specialization teaches you to write, announce, shoot, record, edit and produce items for broadcast, cable and audio/visual departments. This flexible comprehensive program will prepare you for entry-level broadcast roles within a team. Get on-thespot formative feedback to improve your skills.

Build on your existing business education and make yourself more desirable to employers. This program is specially designed for those with business-related degrees or diplomas who are looking to develop specialized skills to prepare them for a career in the fast-changing world of agriculture. 

Dive deep into fundamental agriculture topics, including crop production and protection, livestock production and environmental considerations directly related to agriculture. Develop additional knowledge in communications, customer service, sales and marketing, and management. Round out your analytical and critical thinking skills by learning the technological applications of GIS (geographical information systems) and GPS (global positioning systems).

Experience the best of both worlds: indoor classrooms, plant and soil labs, and outdoor field labs. Off-campus industry tours throughout the year allow you to see careers in action, network with others in your field,  and help you to see the complex and fast-paced world of agriculture.

This 11-month certificate prepares you for a cutting-edge career in Canada’s growing meat processing industry. Learn all aspects of the trade, including nutrition, safety, tools, workplace values and essential communication skills. Enjoy a newly built, modern teaching lab with all the trimmings. Develop skills in curing and smoking for all types of animal protein, including poultry, beef, pork, goat and lamb.

Connect with local employers through a 12-week work practicum. If you meet all employer criteria, you may make up to $6,900 during your work-integrated learning experience; plus, take advantage of additional employment opportunities while enrolled in this full-time program.

Rest assured, there is no shortage of work in this sector, and demand is high for skilled workers. After you graduate, you may be eligible to apply for a post-graduation work permit; if Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) grants the permit, you may benefit from Assiniboine’s partnerships with industry employers. Your work experience, combined with your credentials and personal interest, may lead to career opportunities such as retail meat cutter, retail meat manager, plant manager, production supervisor and/or sales manager.

Our instructors will prepare you as you study towards earning industry-recognized software certifications and professional workplace credentials including Nonviolent Conflict Resolution and WHMIS. This two-year program brings you into the kitchen with everything you need to start your culinary career. In and out of the classroom, you will work closely with instructors through industry-based competitions, community projects and events. After graduation, you may be granted Level 1 and 2 towards becoming a Red Seal Chef once you register as an apprentice.

Follow your taste buds to the Manitoba Institute of Culinary Arts at our North Hill campus in Brandon. Campus grounds overlook the river valley below. The beautiful heritage building features a spacious modern teaching kitchen, culinary theatre and a 60-seat dining room.

You will research and plan menus for buffets, banquets, festivals and other events that you and your team will put on throughout the year. Distinctive ingredients that you help choose will need special culinary touches, and you will learn the techniques you need to bring them to mouth-watering reality.

The Business Administration program is designed with the entrepreneurial spirit in mind. Learn how to negotiate, invest, sell, market and manage people in this economy. Then, connect the dots within a strategic approach. This program will prepare you to administer and manage all types and sizes of businesses. In the second year, students specialize in one of the following areas:

• Accounting
• Financial Services
• Human Resource Management
• Marketing

These different specializations allow you to focus your career path during your second year. There are 60 credits of required courses that are common to all specializations (typically scheduled in year one for on campus students). Applicants declare their specialization at the time of applying to the program.

You may choose to complete your first year of any specialization at either the Parkland (Dauphin) or Victoria Avenue East campus (Brandon), however only the second-year of the Accounting and Human Resource Management specializations are available at our Parkland campus. All four specializations are offered in full at Assiniboine's Victoria Avenue East campus.

Accounting Specialization
Graduates find opportunities in public accounting firms, banks, trust companies, accounting and internal auditing departments in industrial firms, federal, provincial or municipal offices, school divisions, parochial schools, tribal councils, non-profit organizations and health care institutions, and in owner-managed businesses as business/office managers. Many graduates choose to continue their education.

Use the most modern GIS technologies to solve problems across a range of disciplines. Apply your prior education to work in agriculture, forestry, environmental management or natural resources.

From Google to governments and marketing to mineral exploration, geographic information systems are used across a variety of industries.
