The Child and Youth Care Diploma offered at Bow Valley College are suited for the students who wish to work toward the social and emotional wellbeing of the youth and young people by working in community, educational, organizational and familial settings. The program prepares the students to work with the youth and children undergoing emotional and behavioral changes. They also assist learners in understanding the scope of Child and Youth Care Counselors, including how to make therapeutic relationships to foster healthy children, youth and families, within their life-space.

On the completion of their graduation, the students can find themselves working in residential settings, community centers, schools, programs for street-involved youth, addiction services, parent-child education settings, etc.

The Data Management and Analytics Post-diploma Certificate prepares learners to uncover insights from unstructured data sets to inform data-driven decision making. Advanced Game Development is a full-time, two-year program comprised of industry-level courses covering game development’s core disciplines: art, design, programming, and production. Students will create various assignments, projects and games that will be assembled into a portfolio that is fit for working in the games industry.

Complete junior and industry-quality live action and full computer graphic (CG) shots. Apply practical lighting techniques within a full CG environment, film practical footage using industry-standard data acquisition, green screen, cinematography techniques, and fundamentals. Integrate student-crafted CG assets and animation into live-action plates and games. Design mechanics produce beautiful art and program functionality for over a dozen games and prototypes. The focus of the Human Resource Major is on aligning the workforce with the strategic direction of the organization. The program includes an introduction to the function of human resources, an in-depth learning on recruitment and selection, compensation and benefits, occupational health and safety, employment law, and labour relations.

Accredited by Chartered Professionals in Human Resources (CPHR) Alberta.
Graduates from this program are eligible to receive exemption for the National Knowledge Exam (NKE) as part of the process in receiving a Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation. Graduates, who achieve an overall cumulative GPA of 2.7 or higher, proceed directly to building the required work experience requirements before receiving their designation. The CPHR designation is highly regarded and provides you with a strong competitive advantage. 

Co-operative Education Program (Optional)
Co-op provides eligible Business Administration Diploma students with an opportunity to gain work-related experience for one term through an assisted job search. Co-op offers students relevant experience to boost employment opportunities, develop professional skills and experience, network with employers, and earn money.  

The Co-op Work Term process aligns with the competitive nature of job search. To be accepted into the Co-op Program, applicants must meet all eligibility criteria and follow the application process. Candidates are responsible for demonstrating a high level of professional and program expectations. Not all students accepted into the Co-op Program are guaranteed a Co-op Work Term position. 

Education assistants work in a classroom and support children with diverse learning needs. In this program, you'll train to be an education assistant through classroom learning and practicum experience in a school.

You can also take the Education Assistant Certificate part-time, online. If you take the program online, you can only take online courses. Learners in the face-to-face full-time program write the Test of Workplace Essential Skills (TOWES) in semester one.

Do you plan on extending your education? Transfer your courses and complete the Disability Studies Diploma in over a year.

The program teaches the students the skills required to manage information in a hospital nursing unit and covers topics like hospital organization, communication skills, medical orders, basic human needs, and hospital information systems, medical terminology, telephone and reception activities

The course spans over a year and allows the students to pursue the classes online as well. The online instructor is available to provide support and feedback through email.
