The program provides a broad understanding of business and focuses on the development of job-ready accounting skills that a student might require for a successful career in the field of accounts. The students graduate with a broad understanding of business focusing on the development of soft-skills, job ready, technical accounting skills and other skills required for a successful career in the field of accounting.

The course also involves co-operative work opportunities so that the students can gain real-world work related experience for a term via an assisted job search. The work term provides the student with the relevant skills and experience to boost employment opportunities, network with prospective employers, develop professional skills and experience and earn money. 

Transfer credits with Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA)

Co-operative Education Program (Optional)

• Co-op provides eligible Business Administration Diploma students with an opportunity to gain work-related experience for one term through an assisted job search. Co-op offers students relevant experience to boost employment opportunities, develop professional skills and experience, network with employers, and earn money.  
• The Co-op Work Term process aligns with the competitive nature of job search. To be accepted into the Co-op Program, applicants must meet all eligibility criteria and follow the application process. The Interdisciplinary Therapy Assistant diploma program prepares students to work in today's interdisciplinary health-care system. This program will provide students with a strong occupational and physical therapy assistant background and incorporate essential assistant-level skills in speech-language pathology and therapeutic recreation. Equipped with skills in these four rehabilitation disciplines, students will be prepared to meet industry demand and work in a specific rehabilitation discipline or in an interdisciplinary role.

Every business exports and imports goods and services. Supply chain management professionals determine the best combinations of outsourcing and procurement. In this major, you'll learn the various aspects of business operations including procurement, logistics and transportation, supplier relations, and inventory management. With this knowledge, you can contribute to the operational efficiency of a company. 

Time commitment

• This is a two-year (four terms) diploma program. A full course load is five courses per term. Students may elect to take fewer courses each term, however, it will take longer to complete the program.

Learning options

• The program consists of core business courses and major-specific courses. Core courses are available both in-class and online. All major courses are available in-class with only some courses available online.

University Transfer (Supply Chain Specific)

• Transferability is available towards SAIT's Bachelor of Business Administration degree, Supply Chain Management major (upon acceptance by SAIT).

The students of the program are taught to support the individuals, the families and the communities dealing with addiction. The program lasts for eight months and helps the students develop the skills to support the negative behavior related to addiction. The curriculum involves classroom discussions and projects, and the focus is placed on learning to identify and manage addictions. 

The students who are registered in the full-time Addiction Studies Certificate program have to write the Test of Workplace Essential Skills (TOWES) assessment in their first semester.

Combining theory and practice, the Early Childhood Education and Development at Bow Valley College prepares the students to work as frontline caregivers or supervisors to young children and families and making a difference in their lives.

The two years full-time ECED program readies the students to provide quality child care, plan emergent play experiences for the children; offers information on program planning, child development, family dynamics and play that equips them to support the healthy development of children via child-centered learning experiences and prepares them to be eligible for the Child Development Supervisor certification from Alberta Human Services.

The curriculum includes classroom spaces with interactive children’s learning centers that consist of a sensory-motor center, a reading center, an artist studio and a dramatic play center that supports the transition of theory to practice and gives the students an opportunity to engage with children in the lab space. The practicum focuses on a child- centered, play-based and emergent curriculum, involving the student in observing, documenting, and planning the curriculum to meet children’s individual needs, interests, and development.

The focus of the Human Resource Major is on aligning the workforce with the strategic direction of the organization. The program includes an introduction to the function of human resources, an in-depth learning on recruitment and selection, compensation and benefits, occupational health and safety, employment law, and labour relations.

Accredited by Chartered Professionals in Human Resources (CPHR) Alberta.
Graduates from this program are eligible to receive exemption for the National Knowledge Exam (NKE) as part of the process in receiving a Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation. Graduates, who achieve an overall cumulative GPA of 2.7 or higher, proceed directly to building the required work experience requirements before receiving their designation. The CPHR designation is highly regarded and provides you with a strong competitive advantage.

Interior Decorating Diploma is a two-year diploma program that is recognized by the Decorators & Designers Association of Canada (DDA) and teaches the students the practical techniques and skills to manage the interior decorating projects and work efficiently and effectively in business environments in a variety of roles related to interior decorating.
 

Students gain a broad understanding of a multitude of business concepts. This major is designed to provide students with pathways to further post-secondary studies at various universities in Alberta. Please consult with a student engagement officer if you are planning to transfer to one of Bow Valley College's many post-secondary partners.

The Child and Youth Care Diploma offered at Bow Valley College are suited for the students who wish to work toward the social and emotional wellbeing of the youth and young people by working in community, educational, organizational and familial settings. The program prepares the students to work with the youth and children undergoing emotional and behavioral changes. They also assist learners in understanding the scope of Child and Youth Care Counselors, including how to make therapeutic relationships to foster healthy children, youth and families, within their life-space.

On the completion of their graduation, the students can find themselves working in residential settings, community centers, schools, programs for street-involved youth, addiction services, parent-child education settings, etc.

The Business Administration Diploma offers students with the required skills and the general business foundation to effectively function in the operational and technical aspects of a business or start their own business. The students gain comprehensive knowledge that reflects the current trends and practices in today’s global and ever-changing environment. 

The course curriculum involves student-centered workshops and lectures by experienced instructors to provide them with the requisite practical and theoretical training.
