The Legal Assistant diploma is a two-year program and is suited for the students who wish to work with lawyers on a variety of legal matters. The course prepares the students to have strong verbal and written communication skills, excellent attention to detail and proofreading skills, an understanding of confidentiality, superior computer skills, prioritization and effective time management. The Legal Assistant Capstone course brings theory and practice together in a law office simulation.

The course delivery is flexible and offers the students an option to study online. The students are provided support and feedback via email from an online instructor. 
 

The Information Technology Systems (ITS) Diploma program provides the students with the software and hardware skills that are required for the generation, protection of digital information, retrieval, storage, and transmission. The program equips the graduates with the practical skills necessary to enter into the IT sector, gain the skills required to troubleshoot technical problems, deliver quality technical support, communicate with clients, executives, summarize solutions in technical reports and prepares them for the completion of industry-recognized certificates.

This is a two-year (four-term) diploma program with an optional non-credit fifth term (field work placement).

The role of the administrative assistant is changing and growing. Get the practical skills and knowledge to take on many responsibilities in an office. Learn software applications, keyboarding, administrative procedures, and communications. As well, build interpersonal skills to be a more effective and skilled member in any office environment.

As a financial professional, this program prepares you in the areas of financial planning, principles and industry standards, financial products and services, tax and legal implications, managing risks, and building customer service expertise. Graduates typically find employment in financial institutions, entering positions such as customer service representative; banking, credit or other investment management positions; finance and insurance clerks; insurance and real estate clerks; supervisors in sales and services; or investment professionals.

Time commitment

• This is a two-year (four term) diploma program. A full course load is five courses per term. Students may elect to take fewer courses each term; however, it will take longer to complete the program.

Learning options

• The Business Administration diploma program consists of core business courses and major specific courses. Core courses are available both in class and online. All major courses are available in class with only some courses available online.

Co-operative Education Program (Optional)

• Co-op provides eligible Business Administration Diploma students with an opportunity to gain work-related experience for one term through an assisted job search. Co-op offers students relevant experience to boost employment opportunities, develop professional skills and experience, network with employers, and earn money.  
• The Co-op Work Term process aligns with the competitive nature of job search. To be accepted into the Co-op Program, applicants must meet all eligibility criteria and follow the application process. Candidates are responsible for demonstrating a high level of professional and program expectations. Not all students accepted into the Co-op Program are guaranteed a Co-op Work Term position. 

The program teaches the students the skills required to manage information in a hospital nursing unit and covers topics like hospital organization, communication skills, medical orders, basic human needs, and hospital information systems, medical terminology, telephone and reception activities

The course spans over a year and allows the students to pursue the classes online as well. The online instructor is available to provide support and feedback through email.
 

Interior Decorating Diploma is a two-year diploma program that is recognized by the Decorators & Designers Association of Canada (DDA) and teaches the students the practical techniques and skills to manage the interior decorating projects and work efficiently and effectively in business environments in a variety of roles related to interior decorating.
 

This diploma with a General Justice specialization will provide you with a broad spectrum of justice-related knowledge and skills. You have the flexibility to choose required courses from any of the three other specializations offered within the Justice Studies Diploma program.

The Pharmacy Technician Diploma has full accreditation status with the Canadian Council for Accreditation of Pharmacy Programs (CCAPP) and prepares the graduates for the pharmacy examining board of Canada’s national certification exam. Registered Pharmacy Technicians have a broad work scope that includes responsibilities like performing final checks on prescriptions, receiving verbal orders from prescribers, compounding mixtures, preparing sterile products such as eye drop compounds, dispensing medications or intravenous mixtures. 

The program includes 350 lab hours at their state-of-the-art facility, integrates cutting-edge technology, emphasizes on hands-on training to produce competitive dispensary-ready graduates and teaches the students to prepare sterile products in authentic certified sterile production hoods and operate a PACMED® high-speed automated medication packager. All the students registered under this program have to write the Test of Workplace Essential Skills (TOWES) assessment in term one of their programs. 

The Child and Youth Care Diploma offered at Bow Valley College are suited for the students who wish to work toward the social and emotional wellbeing of the youth and young people by working in community, educational, organizational and familial settings. The program prepares the students to work with the youth and children undergoing emotional and behavioral changes. They also assist learners in understanding the scope of Child and Youth Care Counselors, including how to make therapeutic relationships to foster healthy children, youth and families, within their life-space.

On the completion of their graduation, the students can find themselves working in residential settings, community centers, schools, programs for street-involved youth, addiction services, parent-child education settings, etc.
