Labour Studies is an interdisciplinary field and is home to popular courses, including Labour of Sport, Labour and Employment Law, Animals at Work, and our simulation-based Collective Bargaining course.
You’ll find a mix of theoretical and applied courses designed to prepare you for a wide range of careers in labour and employment relations, workplace education and training, public policy and administration, and social justice and advocacy.
You may pursue a Labour Studies degree or a combined Labour Studies degree with a co- major in Political Science, Sociology, History, Geography, Economics or Women’s and Gender Studies.

In Canadian Politics, Comparative Politics and International Relations, you’ll examine power relationships and the organization of power within and among states. The study of Public Policy asks how policies are made and implemented in the complex machinery of government. Political Theory/ Philosophy asks how power ought to be organized and to what end.

Hearing Sciences: Learn about basic science and communication processes, including the anatomy and physiology of speech and hearing, acoustics, linguistics, child language development and selected disorders of human communication. Concentrate in Hearing Sciences and learn about sound, hearing, and hearing disorders, and prepare for admission to graduate audiology programs

Our program is designed to meet the needs of a rapidly evolving industry, incorporating principles of sustainability (economic, environmental, social and political) in tourism management and planning. Within the Department of Geography and Tourism Studies, our program examines such questions as: Can we balance the economic benefits of tourism with the negative consequences of pollution, loss of biodiversity, economic inequality and unsuitable cultural change?

Studies concentrate on various aspects of solid-state and materials research, from superconductors to soft-condensed matter systems. Our undergraduate students are involved in research — some have even published papers before graduation.

Kinesiology is the scientific study of human movement. You will study anatomy and physiology of body movement, including issues related to the maintenance, rehabilitation or enhancement of movement and performance.

Our Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology (BScKin) degree provides a highly competent science background, with an emphasis on research skills and theoretical knowledge. This degree is designed for those who wish to concentrate on the science of human movement and will prepare you to meet the requirements for post-graduate degree programs in a variety of allied health professions.

The Master of Education (MEd) program is designed for individuals from a variety of backgrounds and occupations who have an interest in advancing their knowledge of education. We offer full and part-time study options with a Course-based Pathway (CBP) and two Research pathways: Major Research Paper (MRP) or Thesis. While some courses are offered face-to-face, online and in blended formats the MEd program is a campus-based face-to-face program and cannot be completed entirely online. Students are required to come to campus. Full-time students in the Research pathways are eligible for funding.

For students in the CBP Pathway, the option to complete up to two concentrations in areas of interest is available. Options include:

Philosophy, defined as the pursuit of wisdom, encompasses the exploration of the nature of reality, consciousness, values, knowledge, reason, argument and evidence.

You’ll study not only the primary texts of the Western philosophical tradition, but also major texts of Indian and Chinese thought.

You’ll learn to be critical, reflective, thoughtful, skeptical, affirmative, knowledgeable, and, of course, wise. You’ll become a decision-maker, well trained for a variety of vocations, including law, public service and policy.
