A combination of case studies, experiential learning, small classroom lectures, group projects and independent work will help you develop key business skills, including oral and written communication skills; ethical, analytical and problem-solving skills; and critical reasoning skills. These skills are in high demand from employers.

You may tailor your degree to meet your personal goals. In your first two years, you’ll receive a solid foundation in the functional areas of business along with knowledge of the Canadian and global business environment through a core set of courses. The course is for students who wish to make a career working with children in a health-related profession. A one of its kind degrees, it draws on the strengths of the departments of Health Sciences and Child and Youth Studies and provides opportunities to the students to become research assistants and participate in faculty-supervised independent studies. The degree is designed to meet the needs of students interested in the health, wellness, and development of children and adolescents and allows them to gain practical experience in a health-related profession concerned with children. 

We offer courses in French language, translation and linguistics, as well as courses on literature from French-speaking countries around the world.

Culture and civilization courses highlight the painting, architecture, music and historical events that appeared along with literary texts throughout the centuries in France. We offer a variety of opportunities to study in a French-speaking milieu, including short-term spring and summer courses in Quebec.

Our state-of-the-art Multimedia Language Learning Centre provides you with audiovisual, web-based and computer-based opportunities for language learning.

This program is an innovative answer to your demands as an international student, as it combines an intensive Business English program with Canadian accounting knowledge and also addresses the demands of a business world that needs accountants who can think critically, communicate effectively and respond to challenges that arise from around the globe. Your success as an MPAcc grad is due to our focus on a strong, integrative approach to accounting.

The study of Political Science aims to teach students how to focus on the ideas, institutions and processes that shape our lives, helping them to become better members and effective leaders of the Canadian political community.

In Canadian Politics, Comparative Politics and International Relations, you’ll examine power relationships and the organization of power within and among states. The study of Public Policy asks how policies are made and implemented in the complex machinery of government. Political Theory/ Philosophy asks how power ought to be organized and to what end.

In the Department of Visual Arts (VISA), education takes place within well-equipped studios and teaching spaces, as well as in our vibrant local arts community.

We provide education in two distinct but interconnected streams: Studio Art (STDA) and the History of Art and Visual Culture (HAVC). Studio students take courses
in all fine art media, such as painting, photography, drawing, digital media, performance art, and non-traditional methods of expression. HAVC courses explore history as it is connected to the present, with a focus on themes such as the body in art and visual culture or the role of censorship from the ancient world to the present day. Courses are innovative, interdisciplinary and in keeping with the currencies of contemporary thought.

Our professors are exhibiting artists and published scholars who have mastered a wide array of media and topics, and are fluent in emerging discourses. Add to that a vibrant roster of internationally exhibiting artists who come through Rodman Hall Art Centre, the University’s art gallery, and you have a well-rounded, exciting education in Visual Art. Want to show your work, curate a show, or participate in a festival? How about giving a lecture on your research, or travelling to see art in Italy or Greece? All is possible within a degree program in the Department of Visual Arts.

You’ll study for six years to complete an Honours BA in Child and Youth Studies and a Bachelor of Education (BEd) at the same time.

This concurrent degree integrates theoretical and practical knowledge, and includes a unique undergraduate program, which focuses on understanding children, childhood and youth. Opportunities for field experiences begin in second year, with a required service-learning placement, and continue throughout the program.

The Master of Science in Material Physics International Student Program (ISP) provides intensive hands-on graduate training in advanced experimental, theoretical, and computational techniques of modern materials science. The program aims to prepare highly knowledgeable and skilled graduates, who will be trained as materials physicists and can work as independent workers or in collaboration with others, to fill jobs in industry, government agencies, research institutes and universities worldwide. The program includes an intensive English preparation program.

Our BA in General Humanities is designed to allow you to pursue a more flexible selection of courses, with broad exposure to courses from across all of our Faculties.

At the same time, the degree provides the opportunity to focus on a particular area of study, with the majority of courses taken in disciplines within the Faculty of Humanities. You also have the option of including up to two minors in this degree.

This theoretical and practical training offers an approach to understanding children, childhood and youth that includes: diversity, inequality, exceptionalities, families, cultures, social worlds, schools, peers, communities, popular and media culture, and international issues that span the globe. This wide-ranging knowledge base opens up doors to working with young people in a variety of capacities.
The department has been offering undergraduate degrees since 1993, an MA program since 2000 and a PhD program since 2016.
Our faculty includes many nationally and internationally recognized scholars who work to high standards for teaching and research. Our staff work closely with them to guide our students through their programs. We are all approachable and dedicated to maintaining the highest quality of education.
Experiential learning opportunities are offered in Years 2, 3, and 4 of the program with a required experiential course in Year 2.

A collaborative program is also available to complete both a degree and diploma.
