Environmental geoscientists apply their unique understanding of the Earth’s composition, structure and physical processes to protect the environment and predict geologic and hydrologic hazards.

New geoscientists, trained in environmental disciplines, are required to meet environmental and resource management challenges. Current trends suggest that in North America, employment in the environmental geoscience disciplines will grow faster than the average for other occupations.

Brock’s program is designed to comply with the educational requirements for licensing as a geoscientist-in-training, the licensing classification that leads to the PGeo designation, established by the Association of Professional Geoscientists of Ontario.

The Tecumseh Center for Aboriginal Research and Education offers a few alternatives for those keen on working in an indigenous teaching condition. 

The people group put together educational program model depends with respect to qualified Aboriginal teachers to encourage the instructive adventure. Courses are offered in an encouraged learning associate model in areas over the territory. A determination of Indigenous Studies courses are offered in the campus such as:

Students will learn about the biological, mental, social and environmental determinants of health. The program also familiarizes them with emerging health issues both locally and globally.

Are you interested in how children acquire language, how the skills of second-language speakers develop, how various language disorders can be diagnosed and treated, or how social or cultural environments interact with language?

Speech Language & Hearing Sciences: Learn about basic science and communication processes, including the anatomy and physiology of speech and hearing, acoustics, linguistics, child language development and selected disorders of human communication. Concentrate in Hearing Sciences and learn about sound, hearing, and hearing disorders, and prepare for admission to graduate audiology programs. Concentrate in Speech-Language Sciences and learn about speech, language, and speech and language disorders, and prepare for admission to speech-language pathology graduate programs.

We’ll provide you with a comprehensive education encompassing sensory science, biochemistry, biotechnology, chemistry, microbiology, genetics, molecular biology, plant physiology and cell biology.

Your education will be enhanced by an opportunity to apply what you learn in the lecture hall with hands-on winemaking labs and viticulture field-work. Extracurricular lectures and events organized by Brock’s internationally renowned Cool Climate Oenology and Viticulture Institute (brocku.ca/ccovi) connect you with leading researchers in the field. Industry experience via our co-op program (brocku.ca/co-op) will also be an essential part of your education. At least one work term will be in a vineyard setting with another at a winery during harvest time. CCOVI is the only institute of its kind in Canada.

This program is ideal for students who are interested in acquiring a well-rounded understanding of health and wellness at the individual and societal levels.

Students will learn the principles behind health promotion and disease prevention, as well as the major determinants of human health, including social, biological, and environmental.

For students with health-related college diplomas, this program provides an opportunity to update their knowledge or enhance their credentials. A set number of credits may be granted to allow for a more expedient completion of the program.

The CCES certificate prepares students for the rigours of post-secondary studies in the broad field of Education and related disciplines.

CCES provides a background in educational theory, Canadian educational context, and Canadian culture. Crucial skills required to be successful in Canadian post-secondary programs such as research skills, critical thinking skills, academic communication skills and problem-solving skills, are provided through an educational studies context. Opportunities for international students to improve their English language proficiency, increase their familiarity with Canadian cultural practices, and engage in Canadian communities are integrated into the program. Assistance with applying to advanced post-secondary programs is provided. The international student will be well-prepared to apply to, and succeed in, an academic program at a Canadian postsecondary institution.

You’ll study for six years to complete an Honours BA in Child and Youth Studies and a Bachelor of Education (BEd) at the same time.

This concurrent degree integrates theoretical and practical knowledge, and includes a unique undergraduate program, which focuses on understanding children, childhood and youth. Opportunities for field experiences begin in second year, with a required service-learning placement, and continue throughout the program.

Brock has the oldest — and one of the most distinguished — film studies programs in Canada. The program focuses on critical and historical courses that examine a variety of approaches to film and related media.

Most courses include weekly film screenings to introduce you to all kinds of cinema. Studying a wide range of films provides a thorough understanding of the medium for future filmmakers, critics and teachers. There are optional courses in video production, and you may become involved in the Brock University Film Series (BUFS) and/or Brock TV.

The study of Political Science aims to teach students how to focus on the ideas, institutions and processes that shape our lives, helping them to become better members and effective leaders of the Canadian political community.

In Canadian Politics, Comparative Politics and International Relations, you’ll examine power relationships and the organization of power within and among states. The study of Public Policy asks how policies are made and implemented in the complex machinery of government. Political Theory/ Philosophy asks how power ought to be organized and to what end.
