Study Geography in Niagara – one of the world’s most diverse social and natural landscapes.

Geographers look at the world from a unique perspective, one that bridges the social and natural sciences. Our programs are designed to combine theory and practical experience to train you in Human Geography, Physical Geography, and Geomatics.

Human Geography aims to understand the human world and its interaction with physical, built and symbolic landscapes. This knowledge is used to work towards more equitable societies.

Physical Geography aims to explain the geographic pattern of weather and climate, landform development and their interactions with the biosphere. This is done by studying processes at the Earth’s surface and how they interact with, affect and are affected by human activities.

Geomatics includes scientific and technological activities that integrate various fields, including cartography, remote sensing and geographical information systems (GIS).

Our department has been blending theory and practice for more than five decades through experiential learning in labs, seminars, field courses, internships and much more. These experiences have been developed to help you apply what you learn in class outside the classroom walls.

Professors in our programs engage in a broad range of research activities and incorporate interactive elements into their courses. This often includes spending time outside of the classroom around campus and across Niagara.

Co-op Education
The path to a successful career starts in one of Canada’s most diverse co-op programs. Co-op at Brock gives you the opportunity to apply what you learn in the classroom to real-world situations. Our students test their skills daily, gaining experience and an edge in a global economy.

The Department of Modern Languages, Literatures and Cultures offers this interdisciplinary program as a combined major.

Courses are taught in English and cover the literatures and cultures of Western Europe, as well as Romance Linguistics. French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish texts are read in translation and assignments are completed in English.

Are you interested in how children acquire language, how the skills of second-language speakers develop, how various language disorders can be diagnosed and treated, or how social or cultural environments interact with language?

Speech Language & Hearing Sciences: Learn about basic science and communication processes, including the anatomy and physiology of speech and hearing, acoustics, linguistics, child language development and selected disorders of human communication. Concentrate in Hearing Sciences and learn about sound, hearing, and hearing disorders, and prepare for admission to graduate audiology programs. Concentrate in Speech-Language Sciences and learn about speech, language, and speech and language disorders, and prepare for admission to speech-language pathology graduate programs.

You’ll study for six years to complete an Honours BA in Child and Youth Studies and a Bachelor of Education (BEd) at the same time.

This concurrent degree integrates theoretical and practical knowledge, and includes a unique undergraduate program, which focuses on understanding children, childhood and youth. Opportunities for field experiences begin in second year, with a required service-learning placement, and continue throughout the program.

A career-focused and multi-faceted approach to criminal behaviour, law, and the criminal justice system.

Forensic Psychology and Criminal Justice (FPAC) offers an exciting opportunity to study criminal behaviour and criminal justice in a uniquely diverse way. Using the tools and perspectives of psychology, criminology, child and youth studies, and political science, students will learn about the individual, social, cultural, and systemic factors that influence criminal and aggressive behaviour, and the institutions that make up the criminal justice system.

Through either a four-year Major or Honours degree, FPAC prepares students for a variety of interesting and engaging careers, including law, corrections, counselling, policing, criminology, policy analysis and administration, and advocacy.

Students will work with dynamic, award-winning professors dedicated to teaching and research, and FPAC offers practicum opportunities to gain real-world experience with our community partners in law enforcement, forensic research, and clinical settings.

Our program provides a unique foundation in business practices for computing professionals. The program begins with core courses in computer programming, basic data structures and computer organization, augmented by courses in accounting, management and economics.

In upper years, you’ll study databases, advanced data structures, operating systems, computing ethics, entrepreneurship, finance, marketing and organizational behaviour, and software engineering.

This outstanding opportunity, allows you to combine your studies in Business at Goodman with an experience at the Lancaster University Management School in England, EBS Business School in Germany, ESB Reutlingen University in Germany, NEOMA Business School in France, or Dublin City University in Ireland. No matter which school you choose, your experience will include co-op work-terms in both Canada and the respective country.

You’ll study both at Brock and the partner school and receive two internationally recognized degrees. This co-op only program gives you the global perspective desirable in today’s economy and the work experience to back it up.

England: Lancaster University Management School (LUMS): Study for two years at the Goodman School of Business and two years at Lancaster University Management School in England.
France: NEOMA Business School (NBS): Study for 2.5 years at the Goodman School of Business and two years at NEOMA Business School in France. You will study in French at NEOMA — a minimum Grade 12 French is required for entry to this program, and French language courses must be completed at Brock in Year 2 of your program.
Germany: EBS Business School: Study for 2.5 years at the Goodman School of Business and 1.5 years at EBS Business School in Germany. You will study in English at EBS; however, you will take German language courses at both schools so that you are prepared to work in a German work environment.
Germany: ESB Reutlingen University: Study for 2.5 years at the Goodman School of Business and two years at ESB Reutlingen in Germany. At ESB, you will study 50 per cent in German in Year 3 and 100 per cent in German in Year 4. You will study German language in years 1 and 2 to prepare.
Ireland: Dublin City University: Study for 2.5 years at the Goodman School of Business and two years at Dublin City University in Ireland.

Our BA in General Humanities is designed to allow you to pursue a more flexible selection of courses, with broad exposure to courses from across all of our Faculties.

At the same time, the degree provides the opportunity to focus on a particular area of study, with the majority of courses taken in disciplines within the Faculty of Humanities. You also have the option of including up to two minors in this degree.
