You’ll be on the forefront of research in this exciting and knowledge-based industry. You’ll take courses in biological sciences, chemistry, biochemistry and biotechnology, exploring the use of living organisms to produce goods and services for practical and industrial purposes.

Career opportunities in biotechnology are expanding rapidly due to a dramatic increase in global market demands for biotechnology products.

As a modern biotechnologist, you’ll study areas such as recombinant DNA technology, genetic and protein engineering, cell fusion, and gene cloning and expression.

The Master of Education (MEd) program is designed for individuals from a variety of backgrounds and occupations who have an interest in advancing their knowledge of education. We offer full and part-time study options with a Course-based Pathway (CBP) and two Research pathways: Major Research Paper (MRP) or Thesis. While some courses are offered face-to-face, online and in blended formats the MEd program is a campus-based face-to-face program and cannot be completed entirely online. Students are required to come to campus. Full-time students in the Research pathways are eligible for funding.

For students in the CBP Pathway, the option to complete up to two concentrations in areas of interest is available. Options include:

Environmental geoscientists apply their unique understanding of the Earth’s composition, structure and physical processes to protect the environment and predict geologic and hydrologic hazards.

New geoscientists, trained in environmental disciplines, are required to meet environmental and resource management challenges. Current trends suggest that in North America, employment in the environmental geoscience disciplines will grow faster than the average for other occupations.

Brock’s program is designed to comply with the educational requirements for licensing as a geoscientist-in-training, the licensing classification that leads to the PGeo designation, established by the Association of Professional Geoscientists of Ontario.

Study Geography in Niagara – one of the world’s most diverse social and natural landscapes.

Geographers look at the world from a unique perspective, one that bridges the social and natural sciences. Our programs are designed to combine theory and practical experience to train you in Human Geography, Physical Geography, and Geomatics.

Human Geography aims to understand the human world and its interaction with physical, built and symbolic landscapes. This knowledge is used to work towards more equitable societies.

Physical Geography aims to explain the geographic pattern of weather and climate, landform development and their interactions with the biosphere. This is done by studying processes at the Earth’s surface and how they interact with, affect and are affected by human activities.

Geomatics includes scientific and technological activities that integrate various fields, including cartography, remote sensing and geographical information systems (GIS).

Our department has been blending theory and practice for more than five decades through experiential learning in labs, seminars, field courses, internships and much more. These experiences have been developed to help you apply what you learn in class outside the classroom walls.

Professors in our programs engage in a broad range of research activities and incorporate interactive elements into their courses. This often includes spending time outside of the classroom around campus and across Niagara.

This program has been developed for those who want to continue studies in medicine, dentistry, rehabilitation or occupational therapy, among others.

Our program focuses on the biophysical foundation of human health, with courses in anatomy, physiology, chemistry and biology, in addition to the social aspects of health. It includes advanced courses with laboratory components in clinical epidemiology, human immunology, medical microbiology, parasitology, pharmacology, cardiology and pathology.

The Tecumseh Center for Aboriginal Research and Education offers a few alternatives for those keen on working in an indigenous teaching condition. 

The people group put together educational program model depends with respect to qualified Aboriginal teachers to encourage the instructive adventure. Courses are offered in an encouraged learning associate model in areas over the territory. A determination of Indigenous Studies courses are offered in the campus such as:

Sociology as a discipline challenges everyday assumptions about the world in which we live. Sociologists turn ‘common sense’ ideas on their head through critical examination of social institutions, relationships and conditions shaping the world and the experiences of individuals.

Sociology students are encouraged to develop and employ their sociological imagination to examine the complex social world, relationships and the human condition.

Three-degree streams are available, as single majors or combined majors between Sociology and other disciplines. A collaborative program is also offered, where students may earn both a degree and a diploma.

The Professional Masters Preparation Certificate (PMPC) is an eight-month preparation program that guides you through the challenges that you will encounter as an international student in a North American professional graduate school. We’ll help you improve your English language skills, gain confidence in academic situations and create a North American academic record. The PMPC is dedicated to helping you overcome foreseeable academic and cultural difficulties and acquire the understanding and skills to make the transition to graduate work smoother and ultimately more successful.

The PMPC is a formal certificate program. Students who successfully complete this program will receive a Brock University certificate. You will also be considered for conditional admission to either the MBA (ISP) or MPAcc (ISP) for the next intake when you apply.

This program gives you an opportunity to upgrade your academic record and gain knowledge of North American business principles. It is a carefully designed transition year that can help you bridge the gap between undergraduate studies and your MBA or MBA (ISP) experience.

The Certificate in Administrative Studies (CAS) is right for you if you:

• Would like to go on to an MBA or MBA (ISP) program but your grades do not meet the minimum admission requirements. The CAS will provide students with an opportunity to create a recent academic record.
• Have an international background and want a comprehensive introduction to the foundations of a North American business education.
• Have a non-business background and would like to gain exposure to the foundations of management for the purposes of career advancement.
