The Education Assistant and Community Support program prepares you to support individuals with acquired and/or developmental disabilities both ethically and professionally in the context of home, school, work, and community settings

This dynamic, 4-year applied degree program prepares graduates with leading-edge theoretical and applied knowledge, and skills to work in the fields of exercise physiology, kinesiology, exercise therapy, fitness, high-performance sport, adapted physical activity, health, and community recreation.

At Camosun
The Centre for Sport & Exercise Education offers innovative programing in the areas of Sport Management, Sport & Fitness Leadership, Kinesiology, Athletic & Exercise Therapy, Massage Therapy and Adventure Education. As a Sport & Fitness Leadership student, you will become an integral part of the Centre for Sport & Exercise Education (CSEE).

Choose from transfer courses in more than 30 different subject areas. These courses will transfer to at least one BC post-secondary institution.

Whether you want to take one or two courses at a time, or register for full-time studies with four or five courses each semester, the University Transfer program gives you the freedom to design your own timetable. Generally speaking, you'll probably start by taking 100-level courses (first-year) and follow up with corresponding 200-level (second-year) courses.

You'll gain a solid business education and develop the practical skills that you will need to be successful in a range of marketing roles. 

Year 1: In the first year, you'll work through introductory–level courses in accounting, finance, economics, and marketing. Exit the program now with a Certificate in Business Administration or continue onto the year 2.
Year 2: In your second year, you'll work through marketing research, creative selling, and entrepreneurship courses. Exit the program now with a Diploma in Business Administration-Marketing Option.

Co-op/Internship options
To be eligible to participate in Internship or Co-op, you need to successfully complete a minimum of 8 first year courses, obtain a minimum GPA of 3.0, and complete the workshop series COOP WEP, prior to your first work term (Internship) and all subsequent work terms (Co-op).

You'll gain valuable business skills relevant to working as human resource practitioners while building on past learning. There is particular emphasis placed on leadership and change management incorporating the majority of key competencies required to pursue a Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation.

Work experience
You will gain practical skills and experience by combining your academic studies with relevant work experience in the Internship designation. You'll graduate with practical work experience which will be complemented by valuable networking opportunities.

Technical expertise, analytical precision, and exceptional service
Certified Medical Laboratory Assistants are front-line healthcare workers responsible for collecting human blood, body fluids, and physiologic data used by physicians to diagnose medical conditions. As part of the Interdisciplinary Healthcare Team, Certified Medical Laboratory Assistants are valued for their careful attention to detail and compassionate treatment of patients and clients.

Work in health care
The full-time Certified Medical Laboratory Assistant Program is a comprehensive one-year, entry-level certificate in pre-analytic laboratory sciences. This program prepares graduates for their role as integral members of the healthcare team by providing a broad foundation in laboratory science theory integrated with authentic simulation environments and workplace clinical practicums. Students learn to incorporate exemplary patient and client-centric behaviours while mastering the techniques of blood collection (phlebotomy), analytical sample collection, and sample preparation. Students learn to collect and process data required for diagnostic investigations.

What to expect

• The full-time Certified Medical Laboratory Assistant Program is a comprehensive one-year (ten months), entry-level certificate in pre-analytic laboratory sciences.
• Flexible pathways for progression and a variety of approaches to educational delivery prepare you for clinical practicum opportunities in both hospital and community based laboratories throughout Vancouver Island. Course delivery includes traditional face-to-face and blended classroom instruction, practical simulation labs, teaching clinic integrations, technology-enhanced applied learning, and on-line courses.
• You can expect to spend about one to three hours per day on homework, including weekends. Practicum placement locations are available throughout Vancouver Island. During your placement, you work four, 7-hour days, for up to seven weeks. You might be scheduled for days, evenings, or weekend shifts.

The Office Administration program provides you with real-world skills and intensive business software training to get started in a career as an administrative professional. You will gain an in-depth exposure, as an end-user, of the technologies required for today’s modern office.

As an Office Administration student, you will learn business communications, financial management, information management and workplace professionalism. You will graduate with valuable in-depth exposure, as an end-user, of the technologies required for today's office.

Internship Option

Social workers are interested in social change and passionate about social justice. If you have a desire to help people in times of need or crisis, a career in social work may be the right path for you!

What you'll learn
Camosun College offers a two-year associate degree designed to help you pursue a career in social work. Your associate degree will include a a range of integrated courses, including sociology, psychology, women's studies, Indigenous studies, social policy and English.

As an associate degree student, you will have access to excellent academic advice; you'll have a definite learning path, but with room to explore along the way.
