Develop critical skills in public administration and governance including building relationships with diverse stakeholders and community groups. Through applied learning, you will experience different perspectives and objectives to consider issues in new and creative ways.

As a graduate, you are prepared to be employed in a variety of public administration settings. You can also choose to continue your education at Camosun with the Diploma in Public Administration or enrol in one of the School of Business diplomas or Bachelor of Business Administration programs.

We focus on the management skills, rather than a policy orientation, with an emphasis on strategic planning, financial management, leadership, communication and negotiation. You will have the knowledge, skills and abilities you’ll need to enter the public administration field as a beginning practitioner.

The Learning Experience
You'll have the opportunity to gain valuable work experience through our Co-operative Education and Internship programs.

You will gain a broad range of marketing management skills and techniques, including context for strategic management and planning, and a focus on directing the marketing and communications process.

Year 1: In your first year, you’ll work through introductory–level courses in accounting, finance, economics, and marketing. Exit the program now with a Business Administration certificate or continue on to Year 2.
Year 2: In your second year, you'll be taking courses in marketing research, creative selling, and entrepreneurship. Exit the program now with a business administration diploma or continue on to the bachelor of business administration.
Year 3: In third year, the marketing major allows you to broaden and deepen your marketing skills and knowledge and you'll be taking courses in sustainable marketing, global business strategies, public relations, and communication tools & media.
Year 4: For your fourth year of the BBA, you'll be taking courses in strategic marketing, project management, digital marketing, and advanced communications.

You'll gain valuable business skills relevant to working as human resource practitioners while building on past learning. There is particular emphasis placed on leadership and change management incorporating the majority of key competencies required to pursue a Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation.

Work experience
You will gain practical skills and experience by combining your academic studies with relevant work experience in the Internship designation. You'll graduate with practical work experience which will be complemented by valuable networking opportunities.

You'll gain a solid foundation in business management with the broad range of business courses and opportunities to develop competencies and practical management skills for today’s business environment.

Design a better world
This Access program is for those who don’t yet have the requirements to enter the popular Mechanical Engineering Technology or Engineering Graphics Technician programs. Upgrade your math, physics and English skills while taking relevant and important courses in mechanical systems and architectural design. After completing the Access program, you will receive a certificate and will also have a guaranteed seat in the next intake of the Mechanical Engineering Technology or Engineering Graphics Technician program.

Choose from transfer courses in more than 30 different subject areas. These courses will transfer to at least one BC post-secondary institution.

Whether you want to take one or two courses at a time, or register for full-time studies with four or five courses each semester, the University Transfer program gives you the freedom to design your own timetable. Generally speaking, you'll probably start by taking 100-level courses (first-year) and follow up with corresponding 200-level (second-year) courses.

Advance your skills in the global tourism and hospitality industries
You'll gain relevant applied practical skills in hotel operations, restaurant management, and integrated event management as well as a solid grounding in practical business skills. Core themes of the credential include: sustainability, service management, entrepreneurship and cross cultural diversity including an Indigenous world-view, this will allow you to better examine both tourism and hospitality through a global lens.

Work Experience
You will gain practical skills and experience by combining your hospitality and tourism studies with a four month work experience placement. This will allow for the practical application of program concepts while gaining valuable industry-specific work experience.

Certified Medical Laboratory Assistants are front-line healthcare workers responsible for collecting human blood, body fluids, and physiologic data used by physicians to diagnose medical conditions. As part of the Interdisciplinary Healthcare Team, Certified Medical Laboratory Assistants are valued for their careful attention to detail and compassionate treatment of patients and clients.

Work in health care
The full-time Certified Medical Laboratory Assistant Program is a comprehensive one-year, entry-level certificate in pre-analytic laboratory sciences. This program prepares graduates for their role as integral members of the healthcare team by providing a broad foundation in laboratory science theory integrated with authentic simulation environments and workplace clinical practicums. Students learn to incorporate exemplary patient and client-centric behaviours while mastering the techniques of blood collection (phlebotomy), analytical sample collection, and sample preparation. Students learn to collect and process data required for diagnostic investigations.

What to expect

• The full-time Certified Medical Laboratory Assistant Program is a comprehensive one-year (ten months), entry-level certificate in pre-analytic laboratory sciences.
• Flexible pathways for progression and a variety of approaches to educational delivery prepare you for clinical practicum opportunities in both hospital and community based laboratories throughout Vancouver Island. Course delivery includes traditional face-to-face and blended classroom instruction, practical simulation labs, teaching clinic integrations, technology-enhanced applied learning, and on-line courses.
• You can expect to spend about one to three hours per day on homework, including weekends. Practicum placement locations are available throughout Vancouver Island. During your placement, you work four, 7-hour days, for up to seven weeks. You might be scheduled for days, evenings, or weekend shifts.

As an Office Administration student, you will learn business communications, financial management, information management and workplace professionalism. You will graduate with valuable in-depth exposure, as an end-user, of the technologies required for today's office.

Internship Option

• To be eligible to participate in a work term, you need to successfully complete a minimum of 8 courses, obtain a minimum GPA of 3.0, and complete the workshop series COOP WEP, prior to your first work term (Internship).
