The Diploma in Early Childhood Care and Education is a two year long baccalaureate program that deals with children, their care and education. The Early Childhood Care & Education (ECCE) Diploma gives students the required knowledge to work with children under the age of five in licensed preschools and childcare centres. The program is exclusively designed for students who wish to take a career up in the same field and is headed by a team of expert professionals who have been working in the field of childcare and education from a long time.

Once the student has successfully completed an ECCE diploma he/she is eligible to apply to the degree program. After finishing this diploma students are also eligible for the ECCE Registry for credentials such as ECCE Basic Certificate, Infant Toddler Certificate and Special Needs Certificate. 

The Associate of Arts degree in Creative Writing is a two year long baccalaureate program which deals with contemporary literature, creative writing, reading, understanding basic writing concepts and many more. The course is headed by a number of professionals who guide students with the important aspects of creative writing. 

The Associate of Arts degree in creative writing is a great jumpstart for people who wish to pursue a career in creative writing, copywriting, proofreading, persuasive copywriting, freelancing and so on. The curriculum is structured to impart instruction in progressive stages so as to ensure that a learner can assimilate information about a writer’s art and develops his/her creative ability. This Program includes training in imaginative writing skills in relation to feature articles writing short stories, scripts for TV/Radio, and writing poetry.

Capilano University offers its students an associate degree in academic and applied psychology. This course offers students the opportunity to learn interpersonal relations, counseling courses, mental health programs and so on. The aforementioned course helps students gain the skills required for them to continue university education in the said field or start a career out of the same field.

The Associate of Arts Degree in Psychology is a two year program with numerous courses in fields such as psychology, English and multiple other courses pertaining to the field of arts. Through this course students have an access to excellent academic advising and counseling services. In lieu of fulfilling the university transfer requirements students can choose psychology courses as electives. Once the students have finished this two year long program, they can transfer to a longer baccalaureate program at other British Columbia education institutions. Build the specialized skills to work with children, youth and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

In the program, you'll train in many key areas, including behaviour principles, assessments and applications, supporting individuals with ASD and their families, assessment and intervention planning for children with ASD and using applied behaviour analysis with adults who have ASD and other developmental disabilities. 

The Business Administration Certificate Program teaches students basic management skills that have practical value in a wide variety of jobs.

The program requires successful completion of one required business course, two specialty business courses and a choice of three business elective courses (three-credits each) chosen from the School of Business course offerings.

Credit from the certificate program can ladder into the Business Administration Diploma and/or the Bachelor of Business Administration.

Filmmaking is an art and this art is in high demand during the present time. All kinds of films whether commercial or art are gaining audience and one such genre is documentary making. Capilano University offers its undergraduate students a diploma in documentary making which spans over a period of 12 months. Through this program students are helped with developing skills needed to produce, direct, write and edit documentaries. Students work with trained, highly professional, award winning filmmakers and expert faculty members who guide the students at every step of the way.

The School of Motion Picture Arts at Capilano University, the whole process of documentary making and learning starts from the ground level and gradually students are taught the tips & tricks of the trade. The program follows a professional production cycle from story concept and development, to pre-production, production, post-production and distribution and marketing phases. A number of graduates from this program work as award winning filmmakers and work from research and entry level roles to post production, students have succeeded in a variety of roles. 

The Bachelor of Design in Visual Communication is a four year long baccalaureate program offered by Capilano University. This program is specifically designed for students who wish to build a career in creative arts and communications. With a rigorous, industry centric curriculum students are trained on a daily basis to learn the tips and tricks of the professional world. Students are educated in a number of fields and along with the theoretical concepts underlying communication, students also get to study subjects such as branding, illustration, creative design and interactive design.

Students are also provided the golden opportunity of interaction with the topmost people in the industry and who wish to employ industry ready fresh graduates. From solving problems pertaining to communications and design to developing proficiency in various subjects students are supervised and guided by expert professionals with countless years of experience in the field of visual communications and design.  

Looking to explore a wide range of academic disciplines? The Academic Studies Diploma is a 60 credit credential. The diploma can be completed on a full-time or part-time basis. Guided by their emerging areas of interest, students are invited to select their course of study from an extensive list of lower-level courses. Students can use their diploma credits towards further study at Capilano.

The Health Care Assistant (HCA) program combines theory courses, lab skills and clinical practicums in real-world health care settings. Students learn to provide personal care to clients and residents in complex care, specialized dementia care, selected acute care settings and in the community. Classes are taught by experienced health professionals who share their stories about clinical practice.

The HCA certificate is an 8-month full-time program offered in an accelerated program that students can complete in 7 months of study.

The Bachelor of Early Childhood Care & Education (ECCE) offers students a range of academic and education courses that blend theory and practice in the early years, engaging with research and theory.
Three core threads are intertwined throughout the degree: Curriculum, Childhoods, and Leadership and Advocacy. Students are invited to engage in critically reflective practice, working to create classrooms of social justice and equity for children and families.

Courses in the first two years meet the requirements of MCFD for:

• ECE Certificate to Practice
• Infant/Toddler Certificate to Practice, and/or
• Special Needs Certificate to Practice
• The ECCE degree is a pathway to elementary teacher education programs at SFU and UBC.
