• Apply the creative principles a writer uses to develop a screenplay and critique scripts for production purposes.
• Execute basic film directing skills, including conceiving a visual strategy for telling a story using motion picture arts, working with actors, and leading a film crew.
• Design and produce sophisticated short independent films while employing protocols of professional film set procedures and advanced technical skills in a professional manner.
• Schedule and budget the pre-production, production, and post-production of short independent films.
• Have a basic understanding of cinematic history.

The School of Motion Picture Arts at Capilano University offers a two year long undergraduate diploma in the field of Costuming for Stage & Screen. The aforementioned program is exclusively designed for students who wish to study the technical and creative aspects of costume designing and production for theatre and film. The course provides numerous opportunities for students to score jobs in the professional world owing to the practical experience provided in this program. 

Students learn a number of procedures and concepts involved in costuming such as costume history, textiles, wardrobe management and cutting and construction techniques. The college is also home to a number of campus theatre productions as well as student film projects, through these projects students gain practical experience. The graduates at Capilano University are well-qualified for entry-level positions in motion picture and theatre costuming departments. Capilano University offers a 2 year long baccalaureate degree in English called an Associate of Arts in English program. English is the most widely used language in the world and hence studying English can never go out of style and will always be professionally motivating. Studying literature does not only means employment in the world of academia but can also open multiple other professional doors such as creative writing, copywriting, fiction or nonfiction writing and other assorted jobs. 

Under this course students study literature and through the affluence of English literature we can have a better worldview. Literature offers us a culturally diverse perspective of the world and offer us a more historical, political and social context of events. Studying literature helps an individual develop and hone their preexisting skills such as reading, writing, critical thinking and higher level of understanding. 

Under the Associate of Arts Degree the students study all kinds of literature from modern to classics and contemporary works of literature for two years. Students have the opportunity to read various genres, expand their cultural horizons and know the world from an altogether different perspective. Associate of Arts Degree consist of a total of 60 university credits with a total of 18 credits in the first and second year English.

Capilano University has a comprehensive program for international students called Early Childhood Care & Education Pathway which spans over a period of 1 year. This program is designed as a result of collaboration between English for Academic Purposes (EAP) and the Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) program. This program is specially designed for students who study at the top two levels of the EAP program. 

This program is exclusively designed for international students in order to work with their English speaking skills and help them gain credentials. The Pathway program allows students to begin getting credit for an ECCE credential which is beneficial when they wish to take up further post-secondary education. Upon successful completion of the Pathway Program, you will have earned 9 credits you can apply toward your ECCE credential.

The Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in Applied Behaviour Analysis - Autism provides students with existing baccalaureate degrees from an accredited university the opportunity to obtain an additional credential that would enable them to work with children, youth and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders.

The coursework and experiential component of the Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in Applied Behaviour Analysis-Autism qualify students to write the professional certification exam of the Behavior Analyst Certification Board™ (BACB™) and then become a Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst™ (BCaBA™).
